LISTEN: Three new Kelly Clarkson songs leak online!

Somebody’s gettin’ fired y’all, because THREE new Kelly Clarkson songs have just made their way outside of RCA and onto the web. Kelly’s been prone to leaks for a while now, but the German hacker who infamously leaked half of her unfinished album last year is now behind bars, so we all thought that this leak had been plugged. Obviously not!
The first song to sneak out is “What Doesn’t Kill You”, and by the sounds of things, it could be an official single. The production is more Top Forty friendly than “Let Me Down”, and the empowering lyrical content is a recipe for success.
I think by now we’ve all had enough of pop stars using our low self-esteem to sell records, but “What Doesn’t Kill You” sounds so much like classic Kelly Clarkson that it’s hard to lump it with all those other self-empowerment anthems. Rather than sing about raising glasses and plastic bags, Kelly’s still stuck on her favorite topic: boy troubles. But this time she’s not bitter like “Never Again”, and she’s not ready to make up either like on “My Life Would Suck Without You” — now she’s single, and completely OK with it.
“You know the bed feels warmer sleeping here alone,” she sings. “You know I dream in color, and do the things I want… What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller, doesn’t mean I’m lonely when I’m alone.”
It’s a more mature twist on the Kelly Clarkson we all know and love, but with the same killer chorus and radio-ready production that’s kept her at the top of the charts for almost a decade.
Basically, “What Doesn’t Kill You” is a hit waiting to happen.
The next leak “I Forgive You” continues on with more grown-up Kelly.
Over her usual pop-rock production, Kelly makes amends with an ex-boyfriend from her past, choosing to take a positive path rather than dwell on negativity.
“I forgive you, we were just a couple of kids tryna figure out how to live, doin’ it our way,” she belts on the chorus. “No shame, no blame, coz the damage is done, and I forgive you.”
It’s a beautiful message that’s going to resonate with a lot of people, and the production is punchy enough to make “I Forgive You” a possible future single, like something you’d release to start winding down the album.
And finally we have the amazingly titled “Dumb + Dumb = U”. The song sees Kelly spitting out some crafty mathematical wordplay, blasting a bad boyfriend by using various equations and arithmetic.
“But it ain’t rocket science,” she sings. “I may not be Einstein, but I know that dumb plus dumb equals you!”
As juvenile as the lyrics look on paper, the “Dumb + Dumb = U” has a much more serious tone. If this were a Pink song she’d be using snarky humor and singing about how her ex’s manhood failed to ‘measure up’, but Kelly Clarkson is too pissed for jokes, selling the song on raw emotion instead. Not only is her voice incredible (as always), but the song has a real 90s pop-rock vibe that really compliments Kelly’s style.
Take a listen below.
So just to reiterate, we just had three new Kelly Clarkson songs leak, and all three of them were completely amazing. Kween Kelly can truly do no wrong!
