[Listen] Skylar Grey gets clubby on Kaskade’s “Room For Happiness”

Skylar Grey has sold out to cheap dance trash!

Nah, I’m just kidding. The alt pop-rocker is actually just a featured vocalist on Kaskade‘s new album, Fire & Rice.

Skylar lends her sublime voice and songwriting skills to the album’s closing track, “Room for Happiness”. Anybody with ears knows that the girl can sing her ass off, but the strength of “Room For Happiness” really lies within the lyrics, which really shine over the top of the sleek, throbbing electronica of America’s Best DJ.

Sometimes I wish I never felt the influence of you / ‘Coz now I feel a disconnect,  like an open wound / Where you once were, there’s now a stain that runs as deep as hell / But every morning when I wake I tell myself / “Don’t be fooled by your emptiness, there’s so much more room for happiness.

The angsty doom & gloom of Skylar’s usual lyricism sounds positively divine up against Kaskade’s club beats, and the hopeful hook brings out that euphoric feeling that dance music usually delivers.

Now let’s just hope that Skylar doesn’t suddenly announce that she’s re-recording her album with RedOne and David Guetta because she was so ‘inspired’ by her collaboration with Kaskade!
