LISTEN: Kelis blasts off on Benny Benassi’s “Spaceship”.

Kelis continues her foray into club music with her appearance on DJ Benny Benassi’s new single “Spaceship”, which also features Black Eyed Peas rapper Apl.de.ap.

I should be talking about Benny since this is technically his single, but one listen to the song tells you that it’s ALL about Kelis.

The Jean Baptiste assisted “Spaceship” is another perfect slice of futuristic electro-house music in a similar vein to what we’ve been hearing from the Flesh Tone album so far. Both Baptiste and Benassi are scheduled to lend their talents to Flesh Tone, so if this is any indication of the rest of the Kelis’ new material then we could be looking at one of 2010′s standout albums.

I’d like to say that Kelis is really on a roll right now, but honestly, when has she ever not been incredible? It was easy to feel a little hesitant when she first said she was moving into dance territory for her next album, but she’s really taking things to a whole new level with this project. Kelis is at the finish line while her competition are still brushing their teeth and scrambling to find their keys just so they can get out the door.

    This is so hot!

  • Jam

This is hot! I can definitely dance/workout to this.

I could see this being up on the Dance charts for a good while.

  • Dejj

Um, I don’t understand the whole Kelis up on a pedestal thing seeing as her albums have so much filler tracks that don’t stand out in any way, shape or form. I mean have you heard ‘Kelis Was Here’?!? One of the blandest albums I’ve listened to.
This new album is the first one that’s actually shown any real promise, since the songs are amazing.

Kelis Was Here is actually her weakest album but it’s still great.

Her first three albums are absolutely incredible, especially the first one.

  • ShinyGlam

i need to find a place to download this right now. its incredible.

  • 22nd Century

    @Dejj
Well, before talking shit about Kelis’ albums, listen to them. Kelis Was Here is timeless. It shits on all the girls who’s trying to make an album like that. As well as your faves.

Flesh Tone will be another album that will be ahead of the game.

Not sure what finish line u’re referring to when all of the DJs she’s worked with produce the same shit she’s putting out now, only they did it years before with better guest vocalists. so it’s nice she’s reached the finish line but she’s clearly the tortoise, cause she’s years behind on innovation.

  • liam

But kelis did this type of music before back in the early 2004 and 2005 just not an album but on a couple UK DJ albums! So this is nothing really new to her smh! Kelis Was Here was a statement album lol! Cause she was working on this dance music thing since 2005 so do your research lol! Her stylist had reported it in a 2006 hair magazine rotf! Half of the songs were recorded before the dance music started to takeover the US. She was looking for a label who would’ve took it and not try to mould her lmao at some of the retards who just type shit rotf!

Damn Dave you are behind honey!

Kelis and Diddy did dance music in early 2003 when they collaborated on “Let’s Get Ill” together!

The official video has been pulled from the net but here is a live performance! It was a hit in europe! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ5jz3U8K3o

Plus Kelis did “Help Me” with Timo Maas back in 2002!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX1CAExd-Es

And in 2003 Kelis also did Finest Dreams with Richard X.

Kelis was doing dance and electro 7-8 years ago! Ya’ll just catchin up now?

  • http://www.theprophetblog.net The Prophet

And yeah Kelis worked with David Guetta who is very common, but for the rest of the album she did Jean Baptise, DJ Ammo, Benny Benassi etc etc. She didn’t do RedOne, Timbaland and all the other generics.

Plus she did dub step with Crookers before Rihanna came out with it. Kelis is always ahead as i said before yall just catchin up now?

  • 22nd Century

She also did “4 Ur Ears” with Timo Maas in 2005.

  • tupey

This is a HOT song, and I agree this is definitely a good song to work out to, it can finally replace Girlicious Like Me LOL.

  • Diego

    WOW
I prefer him than Guetta… The song is really hot! Kelis is rocking the eletronic music

  • Dejj

@ 22nd Century – I shouldn’t even be writing a reply to such a mindless stan-like post, it’s half the reason I hate participating in any discussions as you get idiots like yourself doing all this ‘SHITTIN ON YA FAVES, DON’T HATE BULLSHIT’. I mean, shut up? I wasn’t givin’ no “hate” towards Kelis, I simply said I didn’t understand the fuss & praised her new material. I do own some of her albums, and I have listened to all of them, so please..get a life.
Oh and if you think ‘Kelis Was Here’ is a timeless album, then I’d hate to think what else you listen to.

  • Rob

    Umm Poph,

I have to differ with you on this. Kelis has some good songs but sounds HORRIBLE live like she has a dick stuck in her throat.

  • goons

kelis is my bitch…she is giving me janelle vibes here tho…acapella gives me life!!! cannot wait for her album..

  • Lucky

@Rob. she had bad chord damage, but lately her voice seems to be back in pre-2001 form. I guess the long break did her good.

I love what she’s doing. I’m loving all of this new music from Kelis, Janelle and B-o-B. Creativity and great music.

THIS IS HAWT!!!! & yes kelis is on a roll again! thats for sure!

  • JayCred

Is Kelis on crack recently? All these songs are fucking crazy! Benassi can produce his ass off and this is no exception! Bring on his album and Flesh Tone!

  • channelxonr

    @goons
You mean Janelle gives you Kelis vibes?
Kelis has been singing about in space since her first album. Janelle is new to this.

  • TRUTH-TELLER

I like the song. Kelis’ albums do good internationally i hear.

  • youre all retarded

vocal trance has been in existence pre-2000′s. this shit is not new.

  • jean
