LeToya & Ludacris on the set of ‘Regret’ / Plus Matthew Knowles continues his personal vendetta against LeToya!
Here are some new snaps of LeToya and Ludacris on the set of their new video “Regret”, which is the third single from LeToya’s new album Lady Love.
LeToya looks amazing and I can’t wait to see the video. Capitol weren’t even going to shoot a clip in the first place, but the song has done so well with zero promotion by reaching #11 on the R&B chart and #96 on the Hot 100 that the label basically had no choice.
I also have some more juicy gossip/rumours about LeToya’s continued fued with Matthew Knowles, but you’ll have to check under the cut for that because it’s a long story!
Remember when I started that drama about Mathew trying to get LeToya off of the BET awards, and I said that he had been paying off promoters to cancel her performances and radio to boycott her songs?
Well basically I got that juice from an e-mail from somebody claiming to work at Mathews Music World Entertainment. Now I get these types of e-mails quite a bit and most of them head straight for the trash can, but since that one actually sounded plausible I did some investigating and all signs pointed to it being true. I checked with someone who works with LeToya who I often speak to, my friend who’s sister was working at BET, and a MAJOR urban blogger whom I won’t name but they have proven to be very credible in the past. After all three of those people confirmed it to me I felt like it was probably true, especially when a lot of major outlets started printing it and hinting that they’d heard about this going on before, and then LeToya refused to flat out deny it during interviews.
Anyways, I just received another e-mail from the same person who insists that this shady business is still going on, and it all stems from Matthews personal vendetta against LeToya after she won a lawsuit against him. Here are some excerpts from the email.
I am just pissed off with this shady business and I’ve been closer to God lately so I feel I have to throw this out there. I’m going to give you a little more of my experience. So…. Mathew is in a perpetual fight. I don’t understand what he’s trying to prove but I guess that’s what keeps his life exciting. You think he would have moved on by now but on the contrary, he’s totally obsessed with this Letoya Luckett girl. Wasting time making sure radio stations don’t play her songs, and particularly right now making sure “Regret” doesn’t get any bigger than it already is.
I absolutely don’t understand why he thinks her success would overshadow Beyonce’s. Beyonce is aware of what’s going on but she’s not saying anything to stop her dad. I told her to say something but she said to me “I trust my dad”. Anyway, look at the Urban radio charts, Letoya is #5. That’s a pretty good number but you can notice that the most important radio stations aren’t playing it. Thanks to who? You guessed it right. Rumors you’ve probably heard before are true. Mathew is paying these stations off to boycott her. These expenses are covered up as a trip to go see Beyonce’s tour for review. What’s nice is that these stations’ music directors can pick two to three dates anywhere in the world and travel for free. Mathew of course pays for travel expenses as well as $850 “courtesy checks” for…. meals.
The funny part is some of them just get the free vacation and don’t bother showing up at Beyonce’s concert. _____ was not hard to convince thanks to their ties with Jay-Z. It was a little harder to convince _____ and _____ (asking for bigger courtesy checks) but in the end they accepted the offer. Thumbs up go to KMEL who almost spit at my face and refused to collaborate.
I’m putting this to light because I’m tired of this payola bullshit. You might find all of this outrageous but these are common practices in the music industry… and this is only the tip of the iceberg.
So there you have it. I’ll probably get a letter from MWE for this, so keep in mind that this is all speculation and to treat it as a rumour.
Personally it wouldn’t surprise me, especially considering things I’ve heard about Matthew which I wouldn’t dare print on my blog.
