Lena Katina kisses t.A.T.u. goodbye in “Never Forget” music video

When t.A.T.u. announced that they were going on an indefinite hiatus to pursue solo careers, I assumed that it would signal the end of Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova forever. I envisioned cheap $2 music videos accompanying even cheaper music, marred by never-ending pushbacks and false release dates until both ladies slid into obscurity, only to reemerge five or ten years down the line desperate for cash and regretting ever having split up in the first place.
Instead, Lena Katina has actually delivered something rather good with her first solo single “Never Forget”. The music video for the symphonic rock song premiered on Perez Hilton earlier today, which is a far bigger promo spot than I thought it would ever get. It picks up where t.A.T.u.’s farewell single “Snowfalls” ended — with both girls dead after a motorcycle accident. Lena spends the duration of the video wandering around as a ghost, saying goodbye to her former self and bandmate Yulia as she transitions into the next stage of her life.
Either that, or Lena is saying goodbye to Yulia’s old face before it became ravaged by plastic surgery.
