Lana Del Rey selects “Cola” as second ‘Paradise’ single

Lana Del Rey‘s “Cola” –aka the song that launched a thousand memes with its opening line, “My pussy tastes like Pepsi cola,”– will serve as the second official single from the songstresses just-released Paradise EP.

Kween Lana could select any song from Paradise as a single and I wouldn’t care (yes, it’s that damn flawless), but “Cola” was always destined to be her next iconic hit. It’s certainly more radio and pop-friendly than the rest of Paradise, and the lyrics alone will probably garner Lana more attention than a slot in the top twenty ever could.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some epic 15-minute music video that has absolutely nothing to do with sex or soft drink, just to mess with all the Tumblr monkeys.

On another note, does anybody else find Paradise to be best soundtrack to fuck to released this year? Not that I’ve had a chance to test it out in that way yet, but that’s what it gives me when I listen to it.

she did an interview with just jared where she said we’ll get a short film and such so i’m assuming it’s for “cola”. i hope she uses american for something though.

Just Jared: Does the album have a next single already?

Lana Del Rey: Cola. I have a couple of art projects going with people and I really hope that I can weave Bel Air and Gods and Monsters into a short film.

Just Jared: What kind of art projects?

Lana Del Rey: Me and Anthony Mandler we’re still
working together, still talking. (…) We might just go off on our own and
mix his eye for film with my music, and kind of create a twenty minute short film.

I find her music horribly boring, if I had sex to it I’d prob fall asleep during it. She sounds like she’s half a sleep or half dead, I really don’t get her appeal at all besides the sorta retro feel.

As much as I LOVE Cola I was really hoping American would be the next single. Can’t complain though, both are amazing tracks.

  • Abe

you obviously got the appeal enough to come and comment on this post

  • Oh Lana

I agree there is something incredibly sexy about the music. Just a great sensual vibe. I guess it’s the film score approach to composing. You can imagine the music being played to very romantic movie love scenes.

  • TyTy

Do people actually pay attention to the music when they are doing that? O_o On a more related note, I actually love the EP. I used to just find her annoying but I am starting to get it I think.

“Next iconic hit”. What are the other iconic hits? Her top 90 smash Video Games?

There’s hot slow music, and boring. She’s makes the hottest ones. Watch and learn, Taylor.

    This artwork is amazing.

Hardly, I think ms. mexican restaurant (I’ve literally seen one with almost the same name) sucks and wanted to post about how absurd it would be to fuck to her boring ass music!

How are they going to censor the song for radio if radio even plays Lana?. I don’t listen to the radio!

Lana’s songs don’t need high chart positions. She’s barely charted any singles yet she’s one of the best known new female artists of 2012 and anybody who keeps up with music at all has heard Video Games or Born to Die

I love her first album still jam it…but i cant get into this new material, mabe cause im still enjoying her first one, im overwhelmed. But she is most def talented and not boring!

The only song I really dislike is the newly reworked “Yayo”. The original version is dripping in sensuality and makes me want to get fucked hard by a tattooed hipster. Otherwise the EP is flawless. It’s definitely an improvement from Born To Die, which is an absolute clusterfuck.

it’s prolly gonna be the best album to have sex to for the rest of our lives.

  • gotgotgone

Born to Die was one of my albums of the year and Paradise is an amazing companion to Born to Die. This album defiantly feels more sexy, stripped back and wintery while her last album was more summery and perfect music to drive to. I hope she edits Cola and it becomes a surprise billboard hit for her its one of the best tracks she has done. Im pissed at the fact that the actual song Paradise was not on this.

I Love this woman to death. Its’s like she is from the 50′s. A gift from god to show what a classy lady should look like

  • clarke

haha ‘the best soundtrack to fuck to.’ prop, ur a nymph! i honestly wasnt checkin 4 this album after i listened to the snippets, h/e i caved in and pre-purchased it b/c of the flawless vid for ride. i have to say I’m completely stanning for it after a few spins! my fave is def American, listening to it while im drunk gives more life than a pacemaker.

  • Nutcrackin

The picture you used for the post is much better than the actual cover, I was pleasantly surprised that Lana had dropped the Vintage look for something more NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL MUSIC

  • No

    Ugh, shut up.

Lana Del Rey is like some lady from the 60s-70s who rode the time machine to 2012. She’s got that old fashion vibe but modernish. I bet she’ll be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy’s next year that’s for sure.

I don’t agree with Yumm at all, I hate when people use that “you cared enough to comment” thing though… not ALL opinions will be positive but all have a right to be aired.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

WHUTT?! “Born to die” is amazing.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

Oh… are you using America as the only place in the world were you can get a hit? sad…
