Lady GaGa copies Bjork with ‘ARTPOP’ app album

Lady GaGa announced today that she’s taking the groundbreaking interactive app concept of Bjork‘s Biophilia music project, and turning it into a cute little gimmick to plug her upcoming ARTPOP album.

Check out GaGa’s announcement below via her new social media website, LittleMonsters.com.

Im excited to tell you all that ARTPOP is going to be a multimedia experience that comes in different forms. The most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP. ARTPOP will be released as an IPAD, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way i upload to twitter and LM.com. You inspired me to create something that communicated with images, because YOU do, YOU communicate with me and each other with .gifs and pictures, and artwork, graphics ALL DAY 24/7/ YOU’RE an ARTPOP generation. Um, “start asking for IPADS FOR XMAS!!”. That statement is very shady. Is Stefani accepting a few under the table cheques from a certain a company that uses a piece of fruit for its logo? Hmm? Hmm?

Anyway, yeah, back to the album. I was hoping for the less is more approach from GaGa this era following the “OMG EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK BITCHES BUY MAH SHIT IM IN AN EGG LOOK AT MAY!!” tactics she used to promote Born This Way.

Nobody is here for an app that’s going to feature a map the nearest Macy’s that stocks GaGa’s Fame fragrance and a slideshow of little monster fan art that plays when you listen to ARTPOP.

    The funny thing is that I was only saying the other day that Bjork is everything Gaga wants to be and never will be. Everything Bjork does is effortless and natural to her, Everything Gaga does is such hard work and contrived… not to mention that Bjorks music really is unique and ground breaking while Gaga’s is (to use the official description) reductive.

    Once again the news media has found a way to cleverly bash an artist. The only “copying” she did was adding extra custom instruments. She’s telling people to ask for iPads because she wants them to download her app (duh she wants to make money). She’s also said that she hates iPhones, iPads, etc because her nails are too big to hit the buttons, and if you know anything about Apple you’d know that they don’t promote pop artist because hipsters buy their shit…but erhm….yeah.
