Kris Allen selects “Alright With Me” as next single.

Despite the fact that I was the only boy (in the world) to love Kris Allen’s ill-fated Pat Monaghan duet “The Truth”, the underappreciated Idol winner is soldiering on with his career, choosing to release “Alright With Me” as the third single from his self-titled post-Idol debut album.

“Alright With Me” came from a collaboration between Kris and Joe King from The Fray. The rollicking, thigh-slapping number shows off a more upbeat side of Kris’ personality, and would definitely sound good playing in the pub after a few drinks. But seriously, it doesn’t really matter how great the song is (and it is great — I don’t care what y’all haters say!) because everybody knows that this album is deader than Bionic right now. The best thing Jive could hope for at this stage is a nice hit on AC and Adult Pop radio, which “Alright With Me” has the potential to be.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Kris stated that he might start working on his sophomore album this Winter once he’s wrapped up touring and had some time to relax. Hopefully Jive are kind enough not to drop him before then, and work out a good promotional strategy for the next record.

    love this song!!! the whole album was pretty solid actually !! one of the best idol debuts albums of all time!! its even on of the most played albums in my library and thats saying alot! he has potential..i hope this song saves the album

    This sounds like a generic Ryan Tedder track.

    Written All Over My Face is a smash and Red Guitar would make a good single. My personal favorite is Let It Rain though, would love to see that as a single.

    That is definitely one of my favourite songs on the album, and it is a shame that his album isn’t getting the attention and success that it deserves. I truly think it is one of the best first albums of any ‘idol’ on any series whether it is here in Aussie or in the States..For jive to drop him would be a waste of talent.

    Love, love his CD. Alright With Me is a catchy and excellent song for the fall, it is upbeat and makes you dance and move your head. Kris is under rated and he should deserve more.

    Lamerbert has a way bigger fanbase N had the most fans on that show, but when the 3rd place guy got kicked off all his fans opted for this Lame jerk off.

    I like his voice and the singles I’ve heard so far, but for some reason just can’t get into this guy. He seems too PC… I don’t know just seems bland.

    Amazing song, potential hit. It should have been his second single. All his album is incredible, but what can we do with Jive choices Good luck Kris. You deserve the best.

    @Prince I think Lee is going to release an album this november..but I don’t see a single coming yet..anyway the prophet don’t like him so no expect news about him..in the other hand I think he like the other one the girl Crystal..but I heard that she’s engaged so I don’t think she’s working on a new album soon maybe for nerxt year.

    Supposedly the news on Crystal is that she’s having troubles with the label on choosing a direction for her album. They’re not seeing eye-to-eye and it seems like My December all over again but Kelly won in that situation and delivered a masterpiece.

    @JayCred I also heard about the label want her to sing songs that have written by britney..but she denied that she will sing that maybe that is part of the problem.

    Kris Allen definitely has not gotten the attention that he deserves as far as AI contestants/winners go. I actually bought this CD on a wim and love it. This is my favorite track :D

    Um, it’s a good song because it is very very similar to a great George Harrison song, “End of the line.” (well it’s alright, even if they say that you’re wrong, well it’s alright. . .) It sounds like part II of Harrison’s, with the same beat, etc. I really like it, but can’t help singing George Harrison’s song right over it.

    Kris’s album is terrific. I have bought other idol albums, but it is the best one of those I have purchased. Kris is really talented besides being a great person. I look at the albums and songs that are played on the radio and many of them suck in comparison.
