Kelegend Clarkson performs hits medley on Ellen, and does charity work in South Africa.

Don’t ask why, but Kelly Clarkson was  on Ellen this week to perform a medley of her hits. Unless it was promotion for American Idol, it seems a tad random, but I’m certainly not complaining — I could watch Kelegend sing the phonebook and still beg for more.

Kelly showed why she’s more talented than your faves by performing “Miss Independent”, “Walk Away”, and her signature tune “Since U Been Gone”. I’m glad to see she’s still doing “Walk Away”, because I’ll never get sick of that opening part, “you’ve gotcha mother and your brother every other undercover!” It’s just too catchy for words!

But the most defining part was when Kelly slightly changed the ending of “Since U Been Gone”, and said “Since that loser’s been gone”, in a subtle yet spiteful diss to whichever guy was the latest one to stomp on her heart.

In other news, Darkchild has spoken out about the song he recorded with Kelly for her upcoming album. No, Kelegend hasn’t gone all urban on us: It’s a pop/rock song.

“A song call “I Forgive You” that me and Lauren Christy did that’s just crazy pop-rock. The first person who came into my head to do it was Kelly Clarkson. So I sent it immediately and got a response that night. She came out to record, the energy was great and I just finished mixing it. She nailed it. It turned out great.”

Darkchild also added in his two cents about Kelly’s label pushing her album back to the year 2015, insisting that it’s a good move in the long run.

“I think it’s a smart decision. With Doug [Morris] coming in [as Sony Music CEO] but not until July, it’s better to wait, get cool with him, understand what he wants do and all that. But I’m confident in the record that we did. And even though the album was pushed back, I think we can get back into the studio to do a couple more things.”

Besides recording her next masterpiece, Kelly also took some time out of her busy schedule of complaining about her record label to do a little charity work in South Africa. She is so kind and generous — the singing Mother Theresa!

I’m very interested to see what plans Doug Morris has for Sony. Hopefully he continues to promote the label headliners but still gives a good push to the artists that need it. It seems today that more artists want to leave Sony then actually be associated with it.

    She looked and sounded great.

Though you have to wonder if this was scheduled before the album delay, it is very random. Maybe we could have been listening to her new single right now…sigh… if only, if only

LOL @ andres kelly taking xtina’s wig. No, they’re just not on the same level. Sorry

I have all Kelly’s album, and all was great, however, she does only 1 kind of genre, and that is Pop/Rock

  • Blink_blind

Iceberg- I get that you’re a xtina Stan but to say Kelly only does one genre is dumb. Her singles maybe more pop/rock, but you should know as an owner of kc’s albums, that she has never made a single album that’s just one genre from beginning to end. The trouble with love is, behind these hazel eyes, maybe, and I want you… Not even remotely just one genre.

I love that Kelly visited those kids in s.La for a few days, flew back to America in a 30+hr flight, rehearsed a new medley for two days then performed on Ellen, lol. I’d be so tired and groggy. Ellen invited kc to be apart of her Orlando week show, very cool considering Kelly was just on Ellen two months ago and she has nothing to promote right now.

It’s only April and so far she’s had her first number 1 on billboard country for 3 weeks (5 wks in Canada), ‘dont you wanna stay’ will be reaching the 1 million sales mark next week, performed on Ellen twice, finished recording her fifth album, and done some charity events/work. :’c kelegend

She’s the best talent IDOL has EVER and will EVER produce. She’s the epitome of an American Idol.

  • Jack_In_The_Box

Hmm, her vocals have changed. She’s not as pop airy as before. Definitely age has sunk in like all singers. She aint no 19yr old teenager anymore. Tone is deeper and more rasp in belts. She’s sounding like Janis Joplin now which is not a bad thing but we all know why Janis sounded the way she did…. just sayin. ;)

  • Joshua

Regarding her rasp…As a legit classically trained singer with proper form, she only sounds her best after a VERY thorough warm-up.

Whereas someone like Rihanna can roll on up and sound ‘normal’ without proper warm-up, to get an enormous voice like Kelly’s sounding lush, fluid, and clean, she has to spend a good 40 minutes warming it up. That’s not to say that she can’t sound better than most everyone else out there WITHOUT a proper warm-up…she’s always stunning. However, to hit the big notes with ease and sound ‘clean’ she’s got to spend the time to get it moving.

As a major Kelly stan (type Kelly Clarkson into my iTunes and you’ll get 800+ items), I can tell you that she has always been prone to the rasp that you describe. It’s not a knock on her…but if you pay attention, you’ll note that for the performances that REALLY matter, it’s clear she spends the time prepping fully for them. Put her on Idol or in front of the Pope, and she will deliver big time. Toss her on Ellen for a ‘hits medley’ and she’ll go on a roller coaster, eat a funnel cake, and jump on stage with a bottle of Poland Spring. ;-)

Like a delicate saltwater fish-tank, stunning/flawless voices have less room for imbalances/phlegm/lethargy, etc. than a ‘typical’ voice. A typical voice has so many flaws that you don’t notice the little variables the same way they stick out in a stunner like Kelly Brianne.

  • Blink_blind

Yep. If kelly wants rasp that’s what she goes for, if she wants it more clear then it’s clear. Kelly is a classically trained singer, this chick got a full scholarships to berkley and two other Texas universities (of course she didn’t take it and moved to la, lol). I remember she did an interview and said she doesn’t warm up or at the most she’ll do 15 min if it’s just for one or two songs.

Anyway, you can hear the ‘clear’ part of her voice next Thursday on American idol. She will be singing her duet with Jason Aldean. Riri will also be performing that night.
