Kelis releases bizarre ‘Flesh Tone’ album cover.

One of my personal faves Kelis unveiled the official album cover for her fifth LP Flesh Tone earlier today.

The messy artwork is very reminiscent of Grace Jones, as well as Missy Elliott during her Supa Dupa Fly era. Basically what I’m trying to say is that just because it’s different, doesn’t mean it’s good.

Regardless of my thoughts on the cover I’ll still be first in line to cop Flesh Tone when it’s released internationally on May 17. Unfortunately America and Canada have to wait until July 6 to get their hands on the album. Tough break!

Flesh Tone will feature production from David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Diplo and more, and has already spawned a #1 club hit with “Acapella”.

    I’m irritated it’s getting released so late here in the US! I also heard it’s only gonna have 8 tracks on it….I hope thats not true!

    As long as the music’s good, it’s fine, BUT this cover is too busy for me. It’s too many ideas all on one cover.

    8 songs…mh, hopefully she isnt doing some 8 minute long songs…dont like that

    but i cant wait for the cd, i want 4th of july! now!

    i hope it has 12 songs or so…and one dance ballad, something like britney’s “unusual you” would fit kelis

    i think that’s the same corset lady gaga had on in the paparazzi video but just in a darker color. i do like the cover by the way. but i have to admit i’m almost positive this is going to flop in the U.S.

    No its not the same corset as GAG-me.
    The album may take some time to sell, but I think it will go great. Kelis never disappoints with her music.

    i will buy the album but hateeee this cover…i like that acapella pic she first released..worked better with the fleshtones title..this not so much..i am so confused right now as to what she wanted to do?? smh

    I love this cover very eye catching..& i wish people stop using the word “Epic” to describe every damn thing are you guys that limited in your vocabulary??? The constant use of the word is so damn annoying!!!!!!

    Love the cover. How is it bizarre or confusing? Her aesthetic this whole era has been this whole “warrior queen” thing.

    She also really doing Grace justice too. A lot of chicks have tried it, but she’s the only one to nail it.

    i like everything in about the cover except for kelis herself. she’s styled completely wrong.

    @Mimifan: The album is delayed in the US because Acapella hasnt debuted on Hot 100.

    her first singel from this album “acapella” faild to chart on the billboard hot 100′so i think that the album will not sale good on the u.s and will turn unsuccesful.
    by the way’i do love the song “acapella”.too bad it didnt chart on the u.s billboard hot 100.

    LOVE IT!!!!
    Met her in 2000 at Creamfields festival in Dublin, and she’s SO sweet. She was AMAZING live – just hope she makes it over again to play……
    Also, that mixtape of her going around just now is well worth the download – 20 mins of perfection!

Already pre-order my copy from Amazon.co.uk… I can’t wait untll July…The cover well…I kinda like it..I was expected something more revealing ..hello “Flesh Tones”…and the sexiness she put down in the “Acapella” video, but at the same time..you don’t have to be all bent over and naked to make a great cover:)
