Kelis is just a ‘Carefree American’ on Flesh Tone bonus track.

Kelis’ Flesh Tone album was released in the UK way back in May, but it’s only just coming up time for the album’s American release, which includes a special US bonus track “Carefree American”.
The Jean Baptise-produced song is a comment on American culture (surprise surprise), which Kelis explained to Rap-Up last December.
“It’s kinda like the back and forth between what we know that’s wrong with Americans and being in America, yet the things we love about it,” she continues, “and at the end of the day we don’t really sacrifice that much. I put myself in it as well; we are Americans and we like everything super-sized.”
“Carefree American” would’ve made a nice addition to Flesh Tone’s nine-song tracklisting, so it’s a bit of a shame that the rest of the world will miss out on it. The July 6 US release date of the album has obviously been timed in with the single “4th of July”, as well as the annual holiday itself, but I think Kelis could’ve benefited from putting all the different release dates a little closer together.
Take a listen to “Carefree American” below.
