Kate Bush releases new single “Deeper Understanding”.

Kate Bush has just premiered her new single “Deeper Understanding”. The song is the lead from her upcoming retrospective remix album Director’s Cut, which will feature reimaginings of songs from her 1989 and 1993 albums The Sensual World and The Red Shoes.
“Deeper Understanding”, originally from The Sensual World, tells the story of some lonely depressive trying turning to their computer for comfort.
“As the people here grow colder / I turn to my computer / And spend my evenings with it / Like a friend.”
With the rise of the internet, “Deeper Understanding” couldn’t possibly be any more appropriate today, so it’s kind of amazing that Kate had the foresight to pen such a song back in the 80s. For the rework of “Deeper Understanding”, she’s added in some computerized effects and autotune to give the sound a more artificial sound, as well as extending the length by almost two minutes. The result is something eerily futuristic, but also organic and a little celestial — the colliding of two completely different worlds.
It provides a very different take on the original, which now upon listening, sounds like a creepy prelude to a depressing future.
