Jessica Mauboy releases her billionth single / Begins work on sophomore effort with Timbaland and Pharrell
Australia’s biggest (and only) urban pop singer Jessica Mauboy has just released yet another single (her sixth to be exact) from her multi-platinum debut album Been Waiting.
I have this album downloaded and I’ve never even noticed this song before! Zzzzz. Why oh why has she not released “Empty” yet? Cute video though.
Jessica’s career has gone from strength-to-strength since becoming runner-up on Australian Idol in 2006. She’s currently up for seven ARIA awards (Australia’s Grammy’s), and is about to set her sights on cracking the international market, with the US and the UK at the top of her list.
The 20-year-old is also about to get started on her sophomore album.
“I’m already starting on my next album,” she says, indicating she has approached Timbaland and Pharrell Williams with the idea of working with them.
“I’ve got to create something new that people will go mad about and try and work my way internationally. It’s still going to be a long journey, but I’m just happy that this has been a year where I’ve had it all.” [source]

I think Jade MacRae is another good pop/r&b/soul singer but I doubt many people have heard of her since her song ‘So Hot Right Now’.

SHE AND THE VERONICAS ARE THE BEST THING TO COME OUTTA AUSTRALIA!. i love her debut album! i love Back 2 U and Been Waiting! and this was a cute video! i love every song from her album (except Burn and that song that goes “it goes ooonnnn, til the early moorrrrrnnn” lol) but the best thing to come outta my city is Beyonce, Hilary Duff, Slim Thug, LeToya, Kelly Rowland, Mike Jones, Steph Jones, and Brian Michael Cox!
