Janet Jackson kicks off world tour in Manila.

Yesterday Pop Queen Janet Jackson kicked off her intimate 45-date Number Ones world tour at the PICC Plenary Hall in Manila, Philippines.  The tour will go through Asia, before hitting the US and Canada, and then wrapping up with some European dates.

Can I just add that she never announced any dates for Australia, and I’m really pissed about it, and it makes me glad that Number Ones was the first Janet album I never bought.

You can check out some video footage of the legendary Miss Jackson on stage below. She seems to have lost some of her killer moves in the performances that have leaked so far, but she’s still fierce as f*^k.

    I like Janet but can i just state the obvious without being labelled a “hater”? her dacing was WEAK when she was on the floor during “Feedback” it looked like she had fallen down and was struggling to get back up…
    She is basically just doing the same thing Britney did on the Circus tour (walking places with minimal actual dancing) but at least Britney had an excuse since she’d just got over a breakdown etc, Janet should be killin it even MJ who was like 50, underweight and addicted to proscription drugs gave more fire than that for “This is it”.

    Prop it’s official you are not a Janet Jackson stan. Janet’s tour dates are not stopping in Europe and she as yet to release the full leg of dates for Europe. Janet will be performing @ 35 cities some dates has 2 or 3 showings in 1 city. Thanks for posting Janet news babez.

    aw, i liked it. her peak was the velvet rope tour, i remember owning the DVD fondly. she kicked ass. she’s fallen off ever since then… i saw the clip, she looked sexy, but her singing was too soft.

    yea.. i know, madonna’s like 12 years older than her? haha. i think madonna’s in better shape, at least muscularly. i love the janet’s touring again though, she’s doing good in movies too (I guess) so that’s one thing she has on madonna!

    Reality check: When you get older your body change. Even happens to the larger than life super stars. I’m glad Janet is still doing her thing and I think she is adjusting well to performing at her age. It’s the fans and haters who have unrealistic expectations. I can’t wait to see her in LA.

    The show looks boring and depressing. Black Cat is one of my favorite Janet songs but I didn’t like the clip. Her live vocals always sound terrible to me. It’s the backing track overpowering the real vocals which aren’t as loud and every few seconds the weaker live vocals cut through and sound horrid. It makes me cringe. Feedback was better though.

    @TheDimplePuppet – I don’t know about in general, but Madonna danced 10 times better than this on the Sticky & Sweet Tour.

    I know, I love Janet, but even at her peak (velvet rope) she always had that weak voice thing, but that’s just how she’s always sang. She’s always made it up with image/dancing.

    i’m a janet stan so the following will be biased but (hopefully) not untrue:

    She’s just starting her tour after an extended break and is probably not gonna overdo herself (kinda like britney during her circus tour).

    You guys forget the Essence Festival and 09 AMA awards, which she rocked and wasn’t too long ago

    She wasn’t in the best of shape prior to this, but I think she still has it in her and I bet she’ll be killing by the middle-end of her tour.
    Also, based on those two performances, the dancing and choreography is still MUCH than the Rihanna’s and Keisha’s of the world. Janet’s concerts have always been entertaining to say the least

    I wanna be just like Janet when I grow up. She’s still in great shape, got backs, and is outperforming your faves who are under 30. Please don’t bring up Mandonna into this conversation. Janet is one of the baddest to ever hit the stage and her first 5 albums since Control and Discipline are amazing.

    On some of her tour merchandise, it has Sydney listed as a destination. Though it has not been officially been announced, I’m sure she’ll be visiting you guys. She already stated that this tour will be hitting all continents. Enjoy!
