HyunA’s “Gangnam Style” is fun and sexy

HyunA and Psy coming together was fate. Last year, HyunA was K-Pop’s undisputed viral video queen thanks to her hit “Bubble Pop”, which raked in tens of millions of views thanks to its indisputable addictiveness and sexy music video. Comedic rapper Psy is now in a similar situation with “Gangnam Style”, which has attracted global attention thanks to its LMFAO-style production and hilarious music video. It’s almost up to 30 million views on Youtube, and has been talked about by everyone from CNN and ABC News to T-Pain and Josh Groban.
HyunA’s cameo in “Gangnam Style” clearly wasn’t enough, because Psy has gone and given the 4minute hottie her very own version of mega-hit, “Oppa Just My Style”.
Consider it the “F U Right Back” of K-Pop.
While the original “Gangnam Style” video focused on humor and comedy, HyunA’s version is all about looking cute and flirty. Her usual distinctively aggressive ‘rapping’ style (if you can actually call what HyunA does as rapping) has been toned down to make way for helium-voiced aegyo, with the 20-year-old repeatedly squeaking what almost sounds like “oppan gag-na sty” on the hook.
Clearly “Oppa Just My Style” isn’t going to outdo the original, but it’s a lot of fun and nice addition to what is shaping up to be the biggest K-Pop hit of the year.
HyunA and Psy, I now pronounce you King and Queen of Youtube.
