Get Rihanna’s new album… for 99 cents!

Earlier this week Def Jam slashed the price of Rihanna’s new album Rated R to a measly $3.99 in a desperate bid to increase sales.

Well now they’ve gone one further and advertised on their official website that you can now pick up Robo’s Rated R for only 99 cents!

Yes you heard right. Amazon conveniently have a special deal going this week that allows you to get $3 worth of free MP3′s, so Def Jam are asking consumers to combine that with their special bargain bin price of Rated R, which will then allow you to cop the album for 99 cents.

Don’t Def Jam pull this kind of stunt with all their artists?

If they keep this mess up then Rihanna’s second week sales are going to be terrible!

    Rated R is a great album, without hesitations it is better than Good Girl Gone Bad. If you truly dislike the album then that’s totally cool but if your just checking for the instant love poppy songs then you can fuck right off this album won’t do shit for you, LOL

    Amazon has had lots of albums for $3.99 for a limited time. I doubt its desperation from Def Jam. Anyway its a good album. After 3 albums I’m sure everyone has made up their mind if they like her or not so either u will or won’t buy it, they shouldn’t need tricks. *shrugs*

    To be fair Amazon sells lots of MP3 albums for 3.99 one every week I think and Adam Lamberts album is also 3.99 this week. Personally I love the album its very personal and a definite grower but not to sure how the public is going to take the new Rihanna.

    If they invested HALF the promo they gave Rihanna into Amerie, they wouldnt be doing this nonsense.

    but doesn’t suprise me at all, her album is projected to sell about 200k, with Lady Gaga and Susan Boyle ahead (Susan is about to sell 500k and Rihanna is selling 1/3 of Susan’s sales…)
    i knew she wouldn’t reach #1, if she had a super hit single, she could’ve been #2, but Lady Gaga is too much competition for her, Lady Gaga is making the kind of music that made Rihanna famous, and now that she’s going “alternative”, most people don’t support her lol

    I don’t give a fuck! ‘Rated R’ is one of the best albums from a pop artist this year. Bey and GaGa could never. ‘Rated R’ will be one of those special albums that her fans cherish like Kelly’s ‘My December,’ P!nk’s ‘Try This,’ Christina’s B2B, and Britney’s BO. I liked the poppy stuff on GGGB, but the more urban material is her strength and more listenable. I’m sure Def Jam knew this album wouldn’t sell as well, but it was definitely one of the most anticipated releases of this year. R&B has never been able to compete with pop, hip hop or country, but R&B artists are hurting more than ever in the 21st century. I have never been a fan of poppy music and sales are nice, but I just want a good album and Rihanna hasn’t failed me unlike Bey and that tacky ass Michelle Branch-Kelly Clarkson rip-off of Sasha Fierce. Bey needs to try again, I don’t care if the album sales 6 million worldwide, it sucks just like her tacky weave.

    I’m no Rihanna stan and I do think this is pretty funny, but it’s a one day sale.

    As for the album. Unfortunately, everyone who is calling it shit doesn’t know quality music and was clearly expecting another GGGB. Rated-R is a very solid album, not only is it an obvious departure from her last sound which proves evolvment but the songs are actually very catchy. Sure, it takes a few listens but it’s a very strong CD.

    I still say in a few months all of you will be eating your words and bumping Rated-R from start to finish!

    People, you can’t claim musical genius and creativity when it’s all just plain boring! I think GGGB, although quite pop, was much more of a musical departure from all her previous work before it…than this is.
