Frozen Elephants Make Loreen’s “Heal” Music Video Worth Watching

Loreen Heal Music Video

Loreen has released a music video for “Heal,” the title track from her debut album.

Following Euro club-thumpers like “Euphoria” and “My Heart is Refusing Me,” “Heal” is the closest thing we’ve gotten to a real ballad from Loreen. The spooky slow-burner resembles the moody hip-hop beats of Drake and The Weeknd, but with a little Swedish pop flavor that separates it from your typical Noah Shebib fare.

I started watching the video earlier, but I quickly tabbed over to look at other stuff when all I saw was Loreen arguing with her boyfriend or something. When I returned, Loreen was running through an icy city surrounded by gigantic frozen elephants. What does it all mean? I don’t know. I’d probably have to sit through the whole video to figure that out. But it does remind of that Jake Gyllenhaal movie, The Day After Tomorrow. (A movie I’ve actually never seen and don’t intend to, but I remember that the poster had heaps of ice on it or something.)

My point is, this video is pretty cool if you skip the first bit and just check out all the frozen shit.

Proph I’m glad you brought back Loreen! I actually quite liked this album! She was one of my favorites last year… ‘My heart is Refusing Me’, ‘Every Time’, and ‘In my Head’ were the shit.

    Stunning. Her eyes man!

Loreen has a voice to die for. If she re-released her entire album in acoustic version it would still be totally awesome.

Her new song with Kleerup is kinda amazing too

‘Quite liked’? It was one of the best albums of last year. Up there with ‘The Idler Wheel…’ and ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ in my list! Anyways, those 3 were indeed the shit… esp ‘Everytime’ — man, I’m a musician, and it’s one of those songs that I wish I’d written! So fuckingtastic!

  • SRM

And oh – I’m digging ‘Crying Out Your Name’ too. It’s the best Leona Lewis song Leone never recorded!

  • SRM

Absolutely! One of the best voices to come along in a while. For me, she’s simply the most exciting pop act at the moment.

Proph – here’s her explanation for the video’s imagery :

    “On the surface
it’s a love story that revolves around the saying “the elephant in the
room”, that there is an elephant in the room that you do not want to
see. Instead we sneak around the problem. But the solution is always in ourselves.”

Right? The second I heard that song, I instantly drew a connection to it. I wished right then and there that I’d been smart enough to write it!

The instrumental reminded me of a slowed down ‘Castle Walls’ by TI. Her album’s great as is ‘Requiem Solution’!

  • Elephant

Well video is about the expression “Elephant in the room”…you see problems everywhere but you choose to not see them/ignore them instead of reacting and something about it… (atleast this was what Loreen said in an interview with newspaper Metro)

This video concept is amazing. LOVE.
