Fefe Dobson switches her style for second single ‘Ghost’.

After a hiatus from the music scene Canadian pop rocker Fefe Dobson returned last year with her awesome double A-side single “I Want U 2 Watch Me Move”, but unfortunately it failed on the charts so now she’s switching up her trademark sound and incorporating some dance-pop elements for her new single “Ghost”.

“Ghost” starts off with a bit of a cheap dancey beat could have you shaking your head and wondering where the old Fefe has vanished to, but once the soaring, Kelly Clarkson-esque chorus hits it’s clear that this is still a Fefe Dobson track, only poppier.

It’s the most instantly accessible track that she’s has ever released, which in Fefe’s case is probably a good sign since being a young, pretty and black female has always seemed to confuse some of the general public who wonder why she isn’t doing R&B or pop music.

I hope that this change in musical direction is something that Fefe wants to do and not push from the label to get a hit, but whatever is going on behind the scenes it doesn’t change the fact that this is a pretty damn good song with a lot of potential to crack radio and the charts.

Fefe’s new album Joy will be released June 15.

    well well fe fe. Now who is being controlled? YES she is being pushed by her label to sellout for the almighty dollar. Dance pop is what’s in right now and I thought she was against this smh. Another one bites the dust

    I love this and I also love her first two albums. Rihanna jacked her style during the GGGB days.

  • ovendisco

    this is good. “ghost” is probably what she needed to crack into charts.

  • ovendisco

    reminds me of never again

  • liam

    Just because she does this type of music means she sold out lol! Knowing Fefe she is still going to have her trademark music on the album she just releasing a song to catch the public!

  • toonmili

    Fefe has always been into different types of music. In fact if you recall her first album, rock in till you drop it was a hip-hop/dance/rock track. Fefe describes herself as a rock-pop. Stop declaring Fefe as anti-pop since I have read just about every single interview with her and she never stated anything close to it. In fact she has Britney Spears listed among her influences. She is not pretencious and she hasn’t sold out.

    Yay! Thanks Proph :}

    @Marymag
    Why is it a bad thing for an artist that deserves to be bigger than they are to switch it up a little to get on the charts? Artistic integrity only gets you so far (but it doesn’t pay the rent or put food in your stomach)

  • JayCred

    I think it’s pretty good, despite her normally doing the shouty-pop/rock music, this is a nice different track!

  • iamAMAZING

    It’s ok, but i know the rest of the album is going to be awesome! :D

  • huh

    sell out????it’s impossible for a mainstream artist to sell out.they have already given up all artist integrity,there’s nothing left.you people are fucking retarded
