Everything you need to know about Kelly Clarkson’s new girl band ‘Already Famous’

What do you do when all your music leaks online and your record label keep pushing your album back? Form you’re own girl band, duh!
That’s exactly what Kelly Clarkson has done, joining together with her two pals slash backing vocalists Jill Pickering and Kate Rapier to form a new all-female trio called Already Famous. Official info on the band is still a little scarce, but they were kind enough to give a Twitter Q&A earlier today with the Kelly Clarkson stans who were sneaky enough to find their account.
Whose idea was it to create Already Famous?
We’ve been writing & singing together for over four years, so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony!
Who will sing lead?
We switch on different songs. We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points.
How did you get your name?
We couldn’t decide so we went to Sephora and picked the funniest nail polish name. No deeper meaning.
How many songs have you recorded?
Only four, but we’re just getting started.
On comparisons to Miranda Lambert’s girl band Pistol Annies:
I love the Pistol Annies! We have a very different sound but I do love theirs! I can’t wait for their album!
The trio have been recording in Oklahoma, and have premiered a small snippet of one of their songs “I’m Not The Only One” (click here to listen). The ballad is actually an old Kelly Clarkson song that she performed live a few years back, but the production on the Already Famous version has been noticeably beefed up from the simple, piano-based original. The snippet hints at organic indie-pop, easily setting Already Famous apart from Kelly’s solo work and the Pistol Annie’s sultry country tunes.
The trio have also confirmed on twitter that they’ve written a song titled “And I Remember”, which could be this acoustic Kelly Clarkson demo that leaked online a while back.
And if you’re worried that Kelly Clarkson is throwing in the towel on her solo career, don’t. She’s still releasing her album, and her Already Famous bandmates are already in a duo of their own (the imaginatively titled JillandKate), so think of Already Famous as a fun side project along the lines of Pistol Annies.
I’m so excited! Is anybody else excited? Does anybody else want Miranda Lambert/Kelly Clarkson/Pistol Annies/Already Famous to do a massive joint tour? Does anybody else think the idea of spin-off girl groups is super fierce and that more artists from all different popular genres should start doing it?
If you want a bigger taste of what Kelly Clarkson + JillandKate is like, then you can peep some old (2009/early 2010) footage of the trio jamming out together on Youtube.
