Drake premieres first single from posthumous Aaliyah album

Okay, so I’m not really into this whole bringing back the dead thing for concert appearances and new records. First there was that terrible Michael Jackson album, then there was Tupac’s appearance as a hologram at Coachella, and now Drake has used the power of studio technology to create a brand new Aaliyah song called “Enough Said”, which is rumored to be from upcoming posthumous Aaliyah studio album that he’s been working on.
Does anybody care that maybe Tupac might not have wanted to perform at Coachella? And maybe that maybe Aaliyah thinks Drake is a douche and wants to work with Frank Ocean or The Weeknd instead?
Anyway, the song is here, and it’s pretty good, all things considered.
Aaliyah sounds like a beautiful ghost. Her voice, as smooth as satin, echoes and floats through a spooky haze of foggy alt-urban, predictably produced by Noah “40″ Shebib.
Unfortunately, a damper is put on Aaliyah’s return when Drake jumps on the track to diss Chris Brown about the flop sales for his Fortune album, which is a good example of just why this posthumous collaboration probably should have never happened in the first place.
Bitch, Aaliyah couldn’t five a fuck about your petty bullshit with Breezy. Wow, so y’all are both fucking Rihanna — so is half of Hollywood. Get over it.
If I die tomorrow, I will haunt you hoes if y’all start writing posthumous The Prophet Blog entries about how interested I am in the MTV VMAs and how I can’t wait for the new Beyonce album to drop.
