Crystal Castles release “Wrath of God”, unveil (III) album cover

Fresh from the premiere of their awesomely chilling “Plague” video, Crystal Castles are back with the second single from their upcoming (III) album, “Wrath of God”.
This one starts off a little more hopeful and ambient than “Plague”, but soon descends into foreboding graveyard rave once Alice Glass starts singing. Pretty amazing, as usual from Crystal Castles. I just wish I could understand at least one line of the song, but I guess that’s what album booklets are for.
On top of “Wrath of God”, the dark dance duo have also released the artwork for (III). The charming cover photo shows a woman holding her son after he’s just been tear gassed. Lovely.
Check out what CC had to say about their new LP below.
“We wanted the new album to sound like a completely different and new experience,” said Ethan Kath in a statement. “Any keyboards and pedals used on I or II were traded for different keyboards and pedals so that there would be a new palette of sounds to work with. We wouldn’t allow any computers near the studio, everything had to be recorded to tape. We’d limit ourselves to one take because we believe the first take is the rawest expression of an idea.”
I’m so here for this, but I’m totally going to replace (III)’s cover art with a nice picture of puppies and kittens that I cut out of a magazine.
