Courtney Love: “Lady GaGa’s ‘Telephone’ commercial is product placement at its VILEST!”

It’s no secret that the 10 minute video for Lady GaGa and Beyonce’s “Telephone” divided pop fans upon its release. Some people call it a masterpiece, some think it’s overrated, others think it’s too vulgar and a few just flat out hate it.

During a preview for an upcoming tell all interview with Fuse TV, rocker Courtney Love made her true feelings about the video very clear when discussing the possibility of getting artist David LaChapelle to direct some videos from her new album Nobody’s Daughter.

“David ain’t cheap and he’s my best friend and he said he’d do it for it nothing, [but] David’s version of ‘nothing’ is beyond… more than what Lady GaGa and Beyonce spent on that “Telephone” commercial that they did… I think it’s product placement at it’s vilest.”

The interviewer than said that the video was a mixture of fake product placement and real product placement, but was cut off quickly by Courtney.

“That video was paid for. $180,000 of that video was paid for by the telephone company that’s in there. I think the video takes product placement to a new low, frankly. That’s my opinion”.

Do you think that there’s too much product placement in video’s these days? Would you rather your favorite stars turn their music and visuals into commercials to increase their budget, or would you rather them just do something cheaper and let the music speak for itself?
