Cool girl band RD serve up Sugababes 1.0 realness in “Got Me Burnin’” music video

Maybe you’ve heard of girl band RD before. Or maybe you’re like me and you only discovered them this week. Whatever the case may be, these chicks are worth paying attention to.
The British trio have been around for a year or so now, pushing gritty flops like “Do It Like Me” and “Alright Stilll” that went nowhere, but their new tune “Got Me Burnin’” is their first official attempt at putting out a proper single. The song was penned Katy B and produced by the same man behind her On a Mission album, Geeneus, which basically means that it was a leftover cut that didn’t make Katy’s album and has now been passed onto RD. It also means that the track is straight fire, and serves up the same funky 2-step fierceness that has made Katy B one of the best new artists of 2011.
The official music video premiered yesterday, and I must say that RD bear more than just a passing resemblance to the Sugababes original lineup. Seeing these three street-savvy chavs wine and grind their way through London looks as if Keisha, Mutya, and Siobhan have risen from the dead to give version 4.0 a run for their money. You can also guarantee that if the original Babes were still together, then “Got Me Burnin’” would be the song they’d release.
For their Sugababes 1.0 wannabe-ness alone, I’m gonna name RD as my new favorite UK girl group.
