Ciara releases “Sorry” single artwork, new song “Livin’ It Up”

Ciara‘s comeback is close.

Yesterday, the struggling songstress released the official artwork for her new ballad single “Sorry”. There’s no release date for the song yet, but that’s okay, because we’ve got a new CiCi song called “Livin’ It Up” to tide us over until “Sorry” sneaks out.

Much like the fantastic “Overdose”, “Livin’ It Up” is a return to the pop Ciara of Fantasy Ride. It’s a carefree summer jam with island influences, but not in the whole generic Rihanna wannabe kind of way. It’s fresh and fun, bursting with breezy synths and warm guitar riffs. CiCi also sounds pretty solid, with a richer and more full-bodied vocal than her usual sugary-sweet cooing.

“Livin’ It Up” comes to us via an Epic Records playlist released exclusively through Cosmopolitan. Although the majority of the tracks on the playlist are singles, there’s no word on whether “Livin’ It Up” is one too. What we do know is that Ciara’s got two music videos in the works, one for “Sorry”, and another for an as-yet-untitled track. If “Sorry” turns out to be total urban balladry, I wouldn’t be surprised to see CiCi take the multi-format approach and drop a poppier song for top forty audiences.

Are you excited for CiCi’s comeback, or are you still pressed over the whole “Sweat” debacle?

Huh I thought “Sorry” was suppose to drop today? confused…

This song is so hot i love it! She needs to stick with this sound if she actually wants to sell records this time.

This song is certainly prepped for a Top 40 radio success…Nice.

I love it! this would have smashed if released at the beginning of summer! I can only imagine some HOT remixes to this as well…

I love me some pop Ciara lately. Livin it up and Overdose are so damn good. But if she want some urban success, she should release something smoothy yet powerful like Promise.

I like this. It sounds so sweet. Hopefully she does it right this time with promos etc etc.

Ciara is mah gurl. And let me just say, ‘Sweat’ was mah jam. So, haters don’t be lame. Ciara is the shit. I personally can’t wait for ‘Sorry’, though I hope they wait to release it a little longer because it’s still summer, and ‘Livin’ It Up’ is a much better summer anthem …. just sayin

Sweat was terrible, this and Overdose are great, and would even fit in nicely on the radio! I’m excited again.

This sounds like Brick&Lace, I heard somewhere they were wanting to work with Ciara so maybe this is it??

If Brick&Lace are working with Ciara I hope they give her This Time but in urban format. Only the remix has been released and not the normal version of the song.

New Ciara is a plus, pop Ciara a bigger plus and if Ciara has got Brick&Lace on her album even better

I think it was a mistake and instead the Livin It Up song did instead

  • TLo

She needs to drop songs that have the same vibe with Kylie Minogue and Janet then dance to it madly! This song and Overdose sound really good. I hope she is handled by Epic Records better than her previous label. This goes for Kelly Rowland too!

  • TamarBraxton

It sounds good enough. That little island influenced thing really works for her surprisingly well.

what the hell? “Sorry” is a ballad?
this chick is known as a dancer, NOT a belter, what are they thinking?

teasing the web with upbeat shit like the irresistible “Overdose” only to have the actual release be a potentially boring ballad?
why did L.A Reid release all those comments about “Overdose” if it wasn’t even going to be a single?

will “OD” be the pop top40 release? becuz despite this new track being good, “OD” still shits all over it =/

  • OhLaEh

sorry is allegedly a midtempo jam, comparable to promise.

  • Apollo Kid

Yes she thrives on stage as a dancer, however “Promise” was one of her biggest hits and “Never Ever” managed to crack the to 10 on the R&B Charts. I agree about Overdose though. The song has huge hit potential and I’m hoping that’ll be the other single she’s been buzzing about (even though I highly doubt it). Even if it wasn’t a single, it just needs to leak in full.

  • Apollo Kid

I completely agree wit you proph, I’m loving me some pop Ciara this go-round. I remember despising “Love, Sex & Magic”, but now I can’t stop playing it. I absolutely love this and Overdose. If she continues this route, I cannot wait for OWA. I’m praying “Sorry” is good and is able to give her the hit she needs cuz CiCi’s one of my favorite flops!

I read this article yesterday and didn’t even listen to Livin’ It Up. But then I saw flawless goddess Wynter Gordon tweet that she was a writer on it, and I came back to listen. I like it. But I want new Wynter music. :(

This is a hot song and the kind of shit Ciara needs to be dropping, she’s had hot songs before though and fucked it up with lack of promo etc so hopefully this won’t be another time like that.
P.S That pick is hot, I don’t want the album cover to be shit :P
