Ciara announces new album ‘One Woman Army’, comeback single “Sweat”

Ooop, Ciara‘s almost back.

In an interview with MTV to promote her role in the new Adam Sandler flick That’s My Boy, Ciara confirmed that her comeback album is titled ‘One Woman Army‘, and the lead single is titled “Sweat”.

No, One Woman Army isn’t named after Ciara’s diminishing fanbase. It’s a song from the album that was penned by Livvi Franc and songwriter Ali Tamposi, who recent topped the charts with her contribution to Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger”. Tamposi spoke about the song back in March, telling BMI:

“Right now I’m working on a Ciara album, and she’s been great. It’s Livvi Franc and I who are doing most of the writing for it, and it’s been really cool and laid back so that’s been fun. There’s a lot of angst and edge in [Ciara’s] music and we’ve tried to be really conceptual and write things that haven’t been done before and real strong women empowerment songs. This what I’ve been really wanting to do: Focus on one project. So we’ve been doing that the last few weeks now.”

“I really wanted to use, for years, the title “One Woman Army,” and I just used it with Ciara. I had it initially as “One Man Army,” and I changed it and it’s [about] a strong, really independent woman that if you’re going to be a part of her life you have to be strong, a fighter, a solider. It’s a really strong song. We’re working on that right now.”

This is a pretty bold title for someone in Ciara’s position, but judging by L.A. Reid’s tweets, Epic Records is confident about the prospects of CiCi’s comeback.

Unless you’re a Mariah Carey or a Jennifer Lopez, it’s gonna be hard to return to the charts after two flops. I’m skeptical about CiCi’s chances, but I’m ready to #Sweat and #Ride as long as the music is good and the concept isn’t stale.

I’m not here for people like Darkchild telling Ciara that she needs to go back to being the “ghetto” chick from Goodies. Homegirl already tried that and it flopped harder than 2NE1 in Japan.

    Holy crap, I hope her new team gets it right this time! Ya know, picking good singles, album artwork, getting promo spots, etc.
    And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stop releasing slow songs as ur first single! Yes, “Promise” and “Ride” were flawless, but we need her to start off with a BANG this era!

But if her first single isn’t better than “Call My Name” by Cheryl Cole…then she needs to hang herself…or get stoned to death on stage…with rocks…not pot.     Ciara’s huge issue is tracklisting and singles tbh. The tracklistings for her past 2 albums were awful. She seems to leave off great songs for shitty or boring ones……for example the leftover Shut Em Up was better than any song on Basic Instinct and half of Fantasy Ride was really good but the other half was awful and the leftovers and bonus tracks were better! She also picks dumb singles.

    I’m not hyping my self for ciara because I’ve been fooled by
    her comebacks before.back2basic teaser came out I though she was going to pull
    another evolution but instead I was disappointed, the fact basic instinct was
    not a full song just a intro. Kelly Rowland & ciara have the same problem
    songwriting no direction of what music they want to produce so they rely on
    producers giving the right track them when it not sounding current the have to
    make tracks that are similar to what in the charts.

     So true. The last time I saw her perform she was “Out in the Parking Lot” at the VMA’s. They showed ten seconds of her and then cut to commercial. She’s not going to get anywhere if nobody know’s.

    LOL Mariah never had back to back flops each of her albums have been certified–they may have “underperformed” for Mariah typical standards but they werent flops…now J.Lo is a different story when you cant sell beyond 220K of an album that had a single that sold over 8 million copies I need you to hang it up.

You can look back and be proud of what you accomplished but unless you are one of the select 0.0000001% of people (britney, mariah etc) please just get a real job that gives you a steady stream of income!

    I feel like she will Flop, not many artist are selling LP like that (in are current times) … I’ll just call it now, the album will FLOP if it ever sees the light of day. R&B isn’t as strong as it was in the 90′s and early 00′s. However Ciara is very talented and if she were to make music in the direction similar to “Work”, and urban pop/dance, something Sia Fuller wrote, or something complete unheard of then she might have a chance to at least have some single success.
