BTW launched for Top 10 singles and Bionic only a Top 30 hit. BTW sold 6 million copies and Bionic less than a million… I love them both, but we gotta face Christina’s flopped.

I’m not saying Gaga has to do anything like what Bjork does to be ambitious/creative, you can do that in most genres but Bjork had a theme (music/nature), did tons of research, invented instruments for the project, created apps that have never been done before etc, that is ambitious and creative, What Gaga did is neither… she created a standard pop album with standard pop songs, that is generally what most pop artists do.
There is no point comparing digital era with eras past when it’s been proven by Adele that if people like your music enough it’s still possible to push those numbers, the fact us that Gaga’s music isn’t THAT appealing. She’s successful but she’s also not that adventurous, most of her music is the same kind of sound on all her albums, the reason Xtina’s sales fluctuate is because as an artist she tries something new on all her albums which is obviously going to appeal to more or less people at any given time depending on the style but the fact she takes that risk is something great.
If Gaga makes good music I will say so, some of her “TF” stuff is really good, I can say her music is good (if it is) without having to be a fan of hers, I just don’t think it is… It’s generic, When Madonna last actually cared about an album (Confessions… ) It was better than Gaga’s in sales and critical acclaim, Gaga can be really good but she’s too stuck on trying to SEEM creative / original / ground breaking when anybody that isn’t her stan can see she is none of those at the moment.

I obviously meant their sales “relatively”, comparing the digital era blah blah, just forgot to write that part. I don’t like Bjork very much, though she obviously is very gifted creatively and she has her stans. But it’s not like Gaga would have had any success if she did anything those lines, she had a fine line of creating something that was creative while keeping it within a mainstream realm. She was, and always will be, in a tricky position where it’ll be practically impossible to avoid criticism.

omg… you have me ROFL… as if any of Gaga’s albums have sold as many copies as “Christina Aguilera” or “Stripped”… “TF” is her highest selling album and it sold 8m even though she likes to pretend the shipments of 10m count… The fact is she is not selling huge amounts for a “top” artist, she isn’t selling significantly more than anyone in that category…

As for the whole clusterfuck thing it wasn’t the problem that there was so much (although it contributed) it was that there was so much crap…
The fact that Gaga says this is the “album of a generation” or some crap does not make it extremely ambitious… how is an album of lame dance / pop / wannabe rock songs extremely ambitious? If you want an extremely ambitious album I suggest you go look up Bjork’s “Biophilia” or something.

That’s what makes me laugh at Gaga stans, She could shit on a dish and you would all say it was some amazingly ambitious groundbreaking original pro gay gift from the Gods, Get a grip…

p.s. That’s the most common complaint about Born This Way, that it was a “clusterfuck”. Um how is having “too much” a bad thing? It was an extremely ambitious album and I reckoned it delivers. It has coherent themes and messages, and doesn’t need to run as smoothly as Confessions on a Dance Floor which I couldn’t stand how it was all mixed into one big drone. (though obvz has SOME gems)

You gotta admit it’s pretty floppy to pull out album sale figures between Floptina and Godga because in comparison (considering annual album sales and downloads blah blah) The Fame & TFM probably sold more than Xtina’s first albums. Anyway we both really need to do more with our lives than bicker on this blog non-stop. It’s not like I don’t like Xtina, Back to Basic’s was flaw-free, but Bionic was unreasonably bad. Hopefully she has all that out of a system and delivers with whatever badboy she’s got incoming.

UM… am I supposed to care? “Bionic” was an ok, brilliant in places album while “BTW” was a total clusterfuck of trash that happened to sell more. Besides if Xtina had actually bothered to promote it past the first 3 weeks in the US or AT ALL outside the US it wouldn’t have been such a flop, “Burlesque” soundtrack already outsold it and the movie was a hit… Call me when Gaga has caught up to Xtina’s album sales, Makes a song that is actually good and doesn’t include something repeated 30 times and doesn’t need to jack some other artist in her look/sound/tactics
