Christina Aguilera rambles about her sexuality (again). Calls new music video “Iconic and classic”.

Mother earth Christina Aguilera sat down with MTV recently to discuss her raunchy music video for “Not Myself Tonight”, as well as her new album and her sexuality, and as usual it was another hilarious self-indulgent ego trip that’s a must-see for haters and fans alike.

“What I do artistically in expressing myself has nothing to do with being a mother, those are two very different hats for me. My little son will grow up in a household that’s very artistic, where he’s surrounded with a lot of artwork, a lot of nude women within the art, that will very much be a part of his life. Appreciating a womans beauty and the fact that a woman is allowed to express herself in a sensual way, in a sexual way and not have to feel ashamed of it.

“I make sure that every time I express myself in that way that it’s in a very controlled environment, that I am in control of the environment and I’m very comfortable. I think that’s what sexuality is all about. It’s such an important message to me because I feel like there are so many rules and regulations and labels, especially for women. Men are sought of allowed to be whatever they want to be, [they're] allowed to be these free beings and what-not and not get labelled for anything, and I feel like women should have the same rights…”

Wasn’t that the theme of the Stripped album back in 2002?

“…that’s why it’s a point that I like to drive home each and every time. It’s very much a part of me and I’m a very sexual person and it’s always very important to me that that comes across in my messages for the last what, over a decade now? So uh, always changing it up, always staying inspired by non-mainstream things.”

Aggie then discusses her new found love of dancing after being inspired by the filming of Burlesque, taking director Hype Williams into her “creative den” with her “mood boards” and the ‘Not Myself Tonight’ video being “iconic and classic”.

Many words come to my mind when thinking about that video, but “classic” and “iconic” are not two of them.

    The imagery has a really strong theme troughout the video wich is “Pop art” wich she already used in B2B but incorporated in the past, whereas now she’s incorporating it in a Comic vision of the future, very much like the movie Sin City for example.

    that being said, I think the problem with “Not myself tonight” was that it really didn’t offer anything new from her previous work and that was 4 years ago. being dirty, sexy – we get it you’re sexual. You really only gotta say it once. I think if she were to do something a little more mature… i mean she could have written a song about how she could have died giving birth (all women face that possibility) that’s more edgy and different.

    I hope the rest of the material on the album are a little more mature than just sex.

    The problem is that I don’t see a pretentious or arrogant human being in this interview. I see a confident woman who is proud of her work and talent. She is Christina Aguilera, she should be. She is making an effort to be more than a packaged artist like Cassie and the like who can’t sing and can barely dance. She is making an effort to produce music and media that scratches beneath the surface. Maybe she will accomplish her goal. Maybe not. But she believes in what she is doing. Nothing wrong with that. Other artists, including Gaga, have shown similar confidence and I haven’t had a problem with their confidence either, regardless of whether I like them or not.

    Furthermore, sorry but talent does make a difference and can do so irrespective of whether a person is considered pretentious. I tend to not buy into packaging. I buy into the talent unless the artist is a serious violator of an issue that is important to me like domestic or sexual abuse, murder, etc. Then, I may pull back. But I don’t care about the packaging. I am not planning on dating Christina Aguilera, just listening to her music. Whether an artist has a rep for being sweet or down to earth. I just don’t care. Cassie can be the sweetest person on this earth but I would sooner give my money to Mariah or Whitney, (who supposedly have horrible reps. and are not known for being on the cutting edge of music), ten times over before I would pay anything that had Cassie’s name on it because Mariah & Whitney, unlike Cassie, have talent. I care about the actual music. Not whatever personality I think I can perceive of an artist from a 5 minute clip of an interview.

It seems like the most boring, overdone, and unoriginal posturing I’ve ever seen. As sex takes no brains, neither does listening to her garbled chirping. As for her relaxed sexual nature being thrown all over her son being seen as a good thing, ask yourself, would I be comfortable having sex with my son in the room? Most normal people would say no. Demented pop stars, living in an imaginary world, would say yes. And, since when is being dressed up like a sex clown, being trained to sing someone else’s songs that you did not truly write, prancing around the stage doing a dance you did not choreograph, and being unable to perform a song without dozens of helpers and producers considered talent? If you need that much help, you are useless as a performer.
