Christina Aguilera covers Rolling Stone

When Christina Aguilera didn’t get the cover of Rolling Stone for Bionic, I was a little shocked. Sure, the album totally tanked, but I figured that she would’ve squeezed in a cover shoot before the shit hit the fan. Considering that she landed covers for her first, second, and third studio albums, it was surprising to see her miss out for Bionic, especially given the initial pre-Not Myself Tonight hype for her return at the time.
Now Aggie’s back on top, sharing her fifth Rolling Stone cover with her fellow cast members from The Voice, the talented Cee Lo, Miranda Lambert’s flawless country superstar hubby Blake Shelton, and the annoying dude from Maroon 5.
Aggie looks fab of course, and it’s interesting to see her wearing a similar style to her Bionic era. Pre-Bionic, she always had such specific concept looks, like the dirrty tramp for Stripped, the retro pin-up for Back to Basics, or the futuristic diva for “Keeps Gettin’ Better”, but from Bionic onwards she seemed to just dress regularly, rocking trendy leather jackets and flashy heels like any normal girl heading out for a night on the town. I miss the Madonna-esque concept looks that she used to wear, but considering that everybody these days from Katy Perry to Lady GaGa and Lana Del Rey are all doing that now, it’s not exactly as fresh now as it was when Aggie was doing it.
The Voice has undoubtedly been an enormous success, and it’s funny to see the cast covering Rolling Stone, while X Factor just sacked Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul, and that really hot host that everybody hated.
The X Factor was hyped to be huge, but it totally underperformed and has now become a total sideshow with all the hiring and firing, while The Voice has exceeded all expectations to become the hottest talent show since American Idol.
