Charice shuts down Oprah with powerful performances.
Already one of the top female vocalists in the industry today, 18-year-old singing sensation Charice appeared on Oprah yesterday to launch her self-titled debut album with two massive performances.
First off Charice performed her single “Pyramid” with Iyaz, which recently just topped the US club charts. She later returned to close the show with David Foster, performing the very Idol-esque inspirational power ballad “In This Song”.

She has a great voice but her pronounciation sometimes aggarvates me, and yes I know she has an accent.

Who in the world decided to have Iyaz and Charice make that corny ass pyramid at the end of pyramid? The song is already corny in itself but that was just the worst thing ever but anyway I digress.
Regardless, Charice’s voice is God sent and I knew from the very first time I heard her on Oprah over a year ago that she would be something because she’s just has a gift. It’s very rare (believe it or not) in the music industry for a singer to have the kind of talent that she possesses. That’s a sad fact but it’s true. She doesn’t have to rely on heavy auto tune or synthesizers to enhance her voice because she already has it. I’m intrigued and interested to see how Chanice turns out with the new few years.
She needs to stop being so bubble gum asian & really start edging it up if she’s going to survive!

I would put her voice up against Whitney, Celine or any other diva any day of the week. She can sing any genre of music POP, ROCK, Jazz and Rap and one can find all the evidence in YT. @cardcrusher I am guessing you are not in the music industry – right? Well, I am in both Film and Music, and I can tell you that, regardless of where the Billboard may have it at, it is not a flop. I do not even have to check its status as it is really irrelevant at this stage. The song was merely the foundation for the release of the Remix which has done quite well. In fact, her Remix has opened a lot of eyes.
It is clear by the tone of your ignorant statement that you wish this girl to fail. I guess you must be one of those malcontents from her country that I have read so much about.
Charice’s, ability to sing her Remixes live puts her in a league of her own. I would like to see any singer in the world try to sing her Pyramid Remix live. Do you have any idea how difficult of a song that is?
While she may not be as popular as JB right now, I am confident she will eventually get there and when she does, she will also last much longer than he will. Singers like JB are a fad and like all fads they come and go. He will be replaced by someone like Cody Simpson etc and the whole process will start again. Charice, has pure talent on every level and this will allow her to have a long lasting career. Sorry, to disappoint you but it appears she is here to stay. The Billboard data might be irrelevant or not at this point, but that doesn’t change the fact that Charice is not clicking with consumers and the market in general. Her songs are generic and boring. Charice’s Pyramid Music Video debuted at #1 on Billboard Yahoo Music Videos this week ahead of Miley Cyrus’ Can’t be tamed and Lady Gaga’s Alejandro. Her album also climbed from 173rd to 139th spot, 34 spots rise from previous weeks.
She will be featured soon in the fashion and lifestyle magazine Vogue, celebrity magazine People, music magazine Billboard and Rolling Stone.

I just checked the charts. “Pyramid is dead, buried, and forgotten in terms of the Hot 100 chart. Charice’s album has also exited the Billboard 200. DEAD AND BURIED. The album will be soon forgotten especially if one factors in how forgettable and uncatchy the songs are.

As a matter of fact, this album is her 1st foray into POP/R&B. Her record deliberately ‘toned down’ her vocals to suit today’s pop trend…
Anyone who’s followed this girl’s career knows full well of her special, rare talent. Simply put, Charice is a vocal powerhouse. At 18, she’s already blowin’ out complex arrangements from the likes of David Foster (arrangements written for Celine Dion & Whitney Houston) and legendary composers like Dianne Warren (check out her single, ‘Note to God’).
Charice is a remarkable specimen of a voice. Loosely classified a a dramatic mezzo-soprano with an active 3.5+ octave range, this girl is a vocal ‘beast’. Her low register is powerful, steady and clear while her chest voice is full and lush and has the greatest range of any chest voice I have ever heard. Combine this with an equally great head voice and an incredibly full falsetto and what you have is a vocal caliber ‘unseen’ since the heyday era of Whitney Houston.
Charice is gifted with a rich, deep-toned voice (mezzo sopranos generally have a heavier, darker tone to their voice). Unlike singers whose voices ‘thin out’ as they go lower on their register, Charice voice remains ‘clear’ and ‘amplified’. Her ‘clear’ and ‘full’ voice, whether on high or low notes, is what makes her a special vocalist…
Just watch this girl develop (correct a few of her ‘minor’ flaws, like diction and refine her stage presence) to become a full-blown powerhouse. Her voice is the REAL DEAL, and it’s not just my opinion.
