Lady GaGa delivers a special message to her Twitter followers.

Posted in Random on August 22nd, 2010 by The Prophet

Lady GaGa, or the “Twitter Queen” as she is now referring to herself as, has posted a new YouTube video to celebrate her reign as the Queen of the social networking website. Bitch should’ve uploaded a Twitvid instead!

In the video, GaGa emulates Glinda the good witch from the Wizard of Oz, and vows to “always tweet” and “never partake in online celebrity shenanigans”. Yes, because we all know that GaGa is too artistic to be considered a celebrity.

Check out the Queen of Twitter enjoying her reign below.

Brooke Hogan addresses the haters with amazing live performance: “I’m talented!”

Posted in Beef, Performances, Random on August 16th, 2010 by The Prophet

After brutal blog bashings, sneers from the critics and cruel comments from the general public, poor Brooke Hogan has finally had enough and snapped. Seemingly sick of being labeled a talentless hack when it comes to her music career, the Grammy Award winning** starlet decided to shut her haters up once and for all by showing off her true vocal abilities and skills as a professional pianist, during a headlining performance at America’s biggest and most prestigious music festival, Spiedie Fest.

The diva silenced her critics with a stripped-back rendition of her top forty-charting hit “About Us”, complete with flawless vocals and real piano playing. Check out Brooke in action below.

**May not actually be a Grammy Award winner.

Unfortunately, some HATER had to come along and rain on Brooke’s parade, accusing her of lip-syncing and faking the whole thing. The nasty comment was enough to send the poor girl over the edge, causing her to take her bleach blonde behind onto YouTube to set the record straight once and for all.

After attacking the YouTube hater’s username (“MaryBob123… Good username by the way… Horrible!”), Brooke announced that she is, in fact, talented, and then preceded to re-perform part of the song on the spot to prove that it was live.

Watch Brooke decapitating the h@t3rz below.

And there you have it. Brooke rocks, haters suck.

Yes, I know it’s hard for you to see someone like Brooke have more talent and a stronger passion for pop than your fave chart topper, but you’re just going to have to deal with it and accept her as your new musical messiah.

By the way, Brooke will be following up her first two underrated albums with a third record, either late this year or early 2011. She’ll be writing the majority of the lyrics, and co-producing all the tracks. She’s also working on a new reality show after the success of her two previous VH1 shows, Hogan Knows Best and Brooke Knows Best.

I’ll now take this opportunity to hot link to Brooke’s stunning, sexy, feel-good, auto-tuned, cute, dance-pop smash “Handcuffed”. You may now go to iTunes and buy both her albums.

Vanessa Hudgens kicks butt in Sucker Punch.

Posted in Random on July 27th, 2010 by The Prophet

Singer-actress Vanessa Hudgens will hit the big screen next year in the violent fantasy flick ‘Sucker Punch‘. Directed by Zack Snyder (“Watchmen” and the atrocious cinematic abomination “300″), Sucker Punch tells the story of a young girl named Baby Doll (played by Emily Browning) who’s wrongly locked up in 1950′s era mental institution by her evil stepfather, and has just five days to escape before being lobotomized. She flees the horror of her reality by retreating into an alternative-world through her imagination (think Pan’s Labyrinth), where she must find five objects in order to break out of the nuthouse. Vanessa plays Blondie — one of Baby Doll’s friends and follow inmates, who also happens to be a prostitute.

Sounds like, pretty amazing so far, right?

Since this is a music blog you won’t see things here that aren’t related to music, but Sucker Punch gets a pass, not only for Hudgen’s role, but also because music will reportedly play a heavy part in the flick. Snyder has compared the music in Sucker Punch to Baz Luhrmann’s theatrical Moulin Rouge, and rumor has it that Vanessa actually has a solo song somewhere in the movie too.

The only bad thing about the whole situation is the fact that Sucker Punch looks so awesome that Vanessa will probably end up throwing away her pop career for good, in order to focus solely on acting. Oh well, we’ll always have “Party on the Moon”

Sky Ferreira loves Britney. Wants to cover “Cinderella”.

Posted in Random on July 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

As if we needed another reason to love newcomer Sky Ferreira, the Bloodshy & Avant protege has now outed herself as a giant Britney Spears fan in a new interview with Paper mag. She even goes as far as to say that she wants to cover “Cinderella” from the ‘Britney’ album, but hasn’t had a chance to yet.

“I wanted to, but I haven’t! I know every Britney song. My favorite concert was the “Dream Within a Dream” tour.”

She then lists “Born to Make You Happy” as one of her favorite 90s pop songs, quotes a lyric from “Piece of Me”, and then says that “Overprotected” and “Piece of Me” are two of her favorite songs to DJ.

Yup, she’s definitely a certified Britney stan.

Sky already covered the Stevie Nicks classic “Stand Back” for fun, so I hope she gives vintage Britney a go. I love “Cinderella”, but then again, I love all the songs from that album!

Hold onto your wigs because Memphis Blac and Smokahontas Jones ‘Got Dat Work’!

Posted in Music Videos, Random on June 14th, 2010 by The Prophet

With Khia pursuing a new career as an ABC news anchor, Nicki Minaj professionally competing  in Lil’ Kim look-a-like competitions and Remy Ma making sweet music behind bars, it was about time that some new females stepped up to plate to run Hip-Hop for the ladies – and who better than rap’s hottest newcomers Memphis Blac and Smokahontas Jones!

The classy pair are currently making waves across the web with their hookers anthem “Got Dat Work” – a socially conscious rap song lifting the lid on America’s seedy underbelly and giving a real voice to all the nameless and faceless prostitutes across the State of Florida.

Check out some of the lyrical poetry from Memphis and Smokahontas below:

Smokahontas – I’m in Miami bitch / I hopped in that cab, I’m headed down Collins Street / 16 ave where the pimps and the hookers be!

Memphis Blac – Yeah I got that work / I ain’t sellin’ powder, weed or pills, just what’s under my skirt!

Smokahontas – I’m struttin’ pickin’ up another trick / From Venezuela, the lame never f*cked a black bitch / He liked a dominatrix yeah that’s what’s up / He paid me five G’s so I beat that motherf*cker up!

Memphis – Gettin’ money, breakin’ tricks is what this fat ho is about!

Stunning.

After all these glossy fake females like Beyonce and Rihanna, I’m so glad that little girls finally have some real women to look up to who are actually singing about important issues.

Hopefully BET put “Got Dat Work” into heavy rotation soon so this very important message can get out to the masses.

Top Ten most listened to songs + artists of the past week.

Posted in Random on June 8th, 2010 by The Prophet

As usual this list comes from my iPod and my Last.fm account. If you don’t have a Last.fm account you are lame, because Last.fm is awesome and better than you.

Top Artists
1. Marina + the Diamonds
2.  Britney Spears
3. Avril Lavigne
4. Ashley Tisdale
5. Kid Cudi

Top Songs
1. Sky Ferreira – One
2. Marina + the Diamonds – I Am Not a Robot
3. Kylie Minogue – Aphrodite Megamix
4. Marina + the Diamonds – Hermit the Frog
5. Ashley Tisdale – Hot Mess

I’m so embarrassed that Ashley Tisdale is in there, but it started playing by accident and then I realized that some of the songs from her Guilty Pleasure album are hideously catchy. The album definitely lives up to it’s title, but Shameful Embarrassing Pleasure would be more appropriate.

Last week was the first time I actually listened to the Marina + the Diamonds album properly, and not I’m completely obsessed. It’s just so damn good. Oh, and I decided that I’m really excited for the new Avril Lavigne album and that I actually like her a lot more than I ever realized.

What have you been listening to over the past week?

The-Dream butchers a classic and destroys Aaliyah’s “One in a Million”.

Posted in Random on May 17th, 2010 by The Prophet

Singer, songwriter and hubby to Christina Milian, The-Dream, has taken it upon himself to cover Aaliyah’s R&B classic “One In a Million” for a new mixtape he has coming out, with truly awful results.

Though it’s hard to choose one single shining moment in Aaliyah’s near flawless back catalog, “One In a Million” sure comes close to one of the best things that the late singer ever recorded, so it’s hard to listen to The-Dream destroy what is one of the greatest songs from the 90′s from one of the greatest female artists in the history of R&B.

You take a listen to Dreams cover below if you want to out of morbid curiosity, and then to numb the pain you can watch the Aaliyah original.

As with the vast majority of Aaliyah’s music, the original “One In a Million” remains an ageless classic to this day.

Joseph Khan: “So many things girls do today, Kylie already did!”

Posted in Random on May 8th, 2010 by The Prophet

With the release of Kylie Minogue’s new single “All The Lovers” right around the corner, the director for the song’s music video Joseph Khan (Britney, Janet, Aaliyah, Mariah) has been taking a crash course in Kylie 101, claiming on Twitter that a lot of what today’s female singers are doing has already been done by the Aussie pop princess.

“Studying Kylie’s videos. So many things girls doing today people think are new, she already did!”

Despite selling almost 70 million records worldwide Kylie is often overlooked as one of pop music’s trendsetters, with most of the credit going to divas like Madonna, Cher and Janet who have experienced huge success in America while the bulk of Kylie’s success remains overseas.

Do you think Kylie deserves more credit then she gets?

Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg smoke up a storm in the studio.

Posted in Random on May 8th, 2010 by The Prophet

Katy Perry caused a lot of buzz online yesterday after dropping her brand new single “California Gurls”, and now thanks to the featured artist Snoop Dogg we’ve got an inside look at how the track was created.

In the video (which was uploaded on Snoops official Youtube channel) Katy can be seen making a shrine for the rapper out of a huge dildo and some candles. After goofing off Snoop then sits by the mixing deck to write his verse on the song and smoke a huge blunt, while Katy relaxes on the couch holding the end of a Shisha pipe.

Perhaps the pair were too baked to realize that that instead of writing a hit all they did was re-record Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK”?

In other news Katy and Snoop’s “California Gurls” was rushed straight to radio yesterday after leaking online over two weeks before it’s scheduled release date. Some other snippets from Katy’s upcoming new album have also made their way onto the world wide web, throwing Katy into the same leaky boat as Kelly Clarkson, Lindsay Lohan and Ciara.
