Carly Rae Jepsen Drops New Music Video, Hopes It Will Save Her Flop ‘Kiss’ Album

Carly Rae Jepsen Tonight I'm Getting Over You

“Tonight I’m Getting Over You” is the latest single from Carly Rae Jepsen’s struggling Kiss album. I’m not crazy about the song, but it makes sense as a single. It’s got those big electro drops that radio likes and girls will enjoy singing along to the lyrics.

The music video dropped today. It shows Carly running around with some guy and trying to get over him or something. It’s fine and it works. I’m more interested to see how the song will do commercially, since Carly Rae has yet to produce a hit outside of “Call Me Maybe.” The iconic, legendary, flaw-free, divine and utterly spectacular “This Kiss” did nothing on the charts, and although “Good Time” was a hit, it’s more Owl City’s song than a Carly Rae Jepsen jam. The poor girl is still in that precarious position of needing to prove that she’s more than a one hit wonder, and so far, nothin’s happening.

It’s a shame to see Carly Rae struggling when her album is easily one of the better offerings to come out of the top forty pop diva fold in the past year or so. If everything keeps going to shit for Carly Rae, I’m just going to blame it on the original EP version of “Curiosity” not being released, as I have been for months now.

She needs to release “Turn Me Up” as a single. That is one of the best, so much better than this song!!! I hope it gets the single treatment!!

I know my site is FUCKED. The RSS isn’t working and the older entries aren’t either and I don’t know how to fix it!

excellent choice. if any song is going to be a hit, it’s this one.

speaking of the FLAWLESS album, I am in love with “Your Heart is a Muscle”. amazing song >>>>

TIGOY or Turn Me Up will be /would of been ok singles at best, but I feel like she needs something alot catchier. Guitar String/Wedding Ring would of been a good one as it is more of a What Makes You Beautiful and less of a Glad You Came, or the JB song simply for the feature. She should just keep throwing singles til one sticks, even if they flop pretend theyre hits and keep going.

surprisingly good song, and the video was actually quite successful at capturing the affection between the 2.
    i Liked it.
if amazon makes the aLbum $2.99 or something i may have to snatch it up.

Her label needs to go nuclear on the promotion with this one. Needs massive radio promotion, remixes, licensing, TV appearances etc.

It’s do or die for CRJ. She’s a great pop artist with minimal personality and maximal bangs. The problem is that if she can’t sell pop singles she can’t sell anything. Her album didn’t sell well and I doubt many people would want to see her in concert.

  • Coochieness

Her album is still doing pretty well in Japan, which now is the biggest market for music. I think she could care less about the U.S. Get dem Yens biatch!

She should wait until Call Me Maybe slows down on momentum and release this song as the 2nd single instead. CRJ is a new artist and Call Me Maybe is huge, so it is okay to follow on trend just to keep the momentum going. This Kiss is an amazing song, but IMO that is the kinda song you release to close an era. Hopefully this song will blow out because I fucking love it. :)

bitch you wrote about this shit and didn’t write a thing about indestructible Floptado? shame on you.

After listening to the whole album, my opinion is that her music style sounds like every other basic performers like Jessie J, Nicole Scherzinger, Cher Lloyd, etc. I am not trying to hate her here. She has talent, but I think she lacks the spirit or personality she should’ve put in every song. I mean, every other artists can sing the same songs on the album with the same style. There isnt enough “selling point” or something interesting in Carly Rae Jepsen after Call Me Maybe. I thought she was going to be as big as Taylor Swift with that “Call Me Maybe”. I am a fan of that song and I do put high hope for her music career.

    Original version of “Curiosity” >>>>

Because physical singles and albums music typically sells for twice as much as they do in Japan than they do in the US

I love this song, one of the standouts on the album in my opinion. Also I would say that Good Time counts as her song, considering the only reason it was a hit was it riding the coattails of Call Me Maybe. Which is what Carly failed to do with This Kiss.

Hopefully this song makes some waves ’cause I agree I like her and her music a lot more than other pop artists out there.

Yeah look at Avril Lavigne. Japan loves her to death. All she needs is 1 song to chart in the USA Billboard Hot 100 and she’s done.

    STOP.

the album version is actually better imo.

  • Guesty

    disagree tbh.

no one else is doing her kind of quirky cute pop with solid lyrics atm. carly’s definitely in her own lane sonically, though i agree she needs more personality for the general public to really pay more attention to her.
