Calvin Harris calls out Cobra Starship for plagiarism

Yesterday I posted Cobra Starship’s super catchy new single “You Make Me Feel…”, and then I showed you that the reason it’s so catchy is because the producer (supposedly Steve Mac) got a case of sticky fingers and pinched the addictive synth hook from Calvin Harris’ hit “I’m Not Alone”. The song was already jacked once before, when DJ Frank E blatantly ripped it off to create Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x”.

Poor Calvin just can’t catch a break. Naturally, he’s pressed over having his hard work stolen yet again, but he tried to play it off on Twitter like it was no big deal.

Aww, why can’t these hoes just credit Calvin properly and split the fat royalty cheques fairly? They’re lucky he’s being so sweet about it, because if it were me, I’d be marching over to Chris Brown and Gabe Saporta’s house in my steel capped boots ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum.

Calvin needs to ditch the touchy feely crap and take action. Perhaps this compilation of Duke Nukem quotes will inspire him…

    Even JLS/their producer copied Harris’ song with Eyes Wide Shut. But I can’t help it, it’s too incredibly likeable.

    I would probably sue their ass too, not for money but because producers should be acknowledging their inspirations and it would hopefully teach them a lesson in how to be a decent human being.

    Yeah in the F.A.M.E booklet it says at the bottom of Yeah 3x Credits , Contains A Portion Of “I’m Not Alone” Written By Richard Adam Wiles,AKA Calvin Harris so maybe they do credit Calvin for it and thats why he doesnt take action, maybe he is using twitter to get more attention like boasting oh yeah thats my beat sampled, i hate him

    So just because CB credited him in the CD booklet, it then makes it okay to use it without any profit to him whatsoever? That seems wrong. Can I just create a new program identical to Microsoft and just credit them for the idea? Seems to me this guy could have massive lawsuits for stealing his work. I’d be at my attorneys’ office asap and be suing all yall!

    Funny I was listening to the track on the radio (cobra star…) and liking it ! then in the middle of the night, I kept singing ” la la la la la….” and I knew : they stole the entire idea of “I’m not alone” not only the synth but even the feel of the lead vocal, this is total rip off ! people should be sued for things like that … Hey Calvin “you’re definitely not alone” lol
