Britney Spears going alternative on new album?
To add yet another genre into the already overcrowded mix for the new Britney Spears album, it looks like the Queen B could be playing around with some alternative sounds after the music publisher of Estonian pop singer Kerli let the news slip during a live chat on Kyte TV yesterday.
When asked about the direction of Kerli’s upcoming sophomore album, the music publisher said that Britney is making a dance record and that she’s actually heard several of the tracks that are being considered for Britney to record. She then described them as being “very electronic” and “kind of alternative”, adding that they’re “very different” from anything Britney has done before.
Fitting in with the alternative theme is news that Britney is working with producer Rusko, who is responsible for the new M.I.A. single “XXXO”.
Earlier last week Britney’s management released a statement regarding her relationship with her agent/boyfriend Jason Trawick, mentioning that the singer has been “busy in the studio working on her next album”.
Very exciting stuff. Perhaps we can get another “And Then We Kiss”, a song that is one of the most underrated and brilliant of Spears career. Thanks to Ethan for this news.

I’m really not hyped but looking forward to it. I’d love for her to go a more rock sound. But really, anything she does is good for me. I wish she’d come out with some more records like Toy Soldier and Break the Ice though.

I’m so fuckin excited for this album it’s going to be so amazing……I have a feeling it’s gonna be like In The Zone on steriods because it sounds very experimental and like it may have a wide range of sounds! I really hope Jive actually lets her release song she wrote for it like they did with In The Zone because Britney is a great writer and the more imput she has on a project the better it comes out!

As many are, I am anticipating the return of Britney. In The Zone and Blackout remain her top albums for me.
@liam: I love Let Go and Baby Boy, and constantly listen to them weekly still.
@Proph: “And Then We Kiss” is one of those tracks that the record label wasted. Although it would probably never have been a hit here in the States, I believe it would have done great worldwide. B In The Mix was a waste of time and money because they basically half-assed the project and let it suffer a miserable death. The same goes with “Over to You Now” from Chaotic.

@ liam Britney did not write State Of Grace, Sugar Fall which is actually titled Hooked On, and Kiss You All Over…………she did however write Guilty, Let Go, Baby Boy, Rebellion, All That She Wants, She’ll Never Be Me, When I Say So, and most likey Dramatic along with many other tracks that are registered, but have never leaked. Jive doesn’t like to release her music because I feel like they don’t want her to be a real artist

@ yumm I feel you and that’s what I have been thinking as well. I think when her contract is over at Jive I think she can go independent cause she has a strong following and she is one of the few artist who can get a Top 40 track without doing any major promo and charting off airplay and a music video like back in the days. Then she can take back her creative control cause it seems Britney has a thing for urban music when she first had a lil creativity from her 3rd album Britney
