Britney Spears goes for “epic” new sound on her seventh album
Up & coming electro-pop writer/producer/artist Jon Asher has opened up a little about Britney Spears’ upcoming seventh studio album. The 21-year-old was recently contacted by Spears and her management and asked to submit material for the highly-anticipated project, which is due out sometime later this year.
For now, I’ve only submitted songs for the next album. I’m trying to develop an exciting new sound for her. Give Britney more of an “Epic” feel.
And how exactly does Jon define “Epic”?
Epic Pop is a genre that I am pioneering at the moment. Music that has meaning. It’s not your everyday pop love bug sound. Its upbeat rhythms and sounds with meaningful emotional lyrics that people can feel. Something that truly moves you.
Jon also happens to be a huge Britney fan, so which of the singers albums are his favorite?
I’m caught between Blackout and In the Zone. “Unusual You” from the Circus album and “Break the Ice” from her Blackout album [are my favorite Britney songs].
Sounds exciting! One look at Britney’s list of other producers (Darkchild, David Guetta, Danja etc) gives the impression that she’s trying to find the balance between urban-pop and electro-pop, whilst still covering fresh new ground.
Jon Asher is really talented so I’d love to see some of his demos make the final cut. You can listen to his work over at his MySpace, or you can just check out my personal faves of his “Stay With Me” below. I’d love for Britney to record something similar.

well to this day i can’t stand her stil cause she releases an album like every 12 months and all her songs sound the same so i don’t know how she can sound any different. Unless she starts writing her own music then it’ll never sound diff than what she’s already done! 7 albums in 10 yrs? With better acts coming back this year i doubt she’ll have any huge impact. pretty sure it won’t sound any different than Circus
All her albums sound different except the first two, and all her albums are ten steps ahead of every other chick in the game! Even Circus at her safest still snatched wigs!

In order to achieve an “epic” sound one might need to start with an epic voice. Britney Spears may be one of the most “pop”ular artists in the world but she is NOT one of the industries premiere vocalists. Not by a long shot. Does the girl even write her own songs? I highly doubt it.Britney Spears has the makings of a pop star;a slightly controversial one at that. She does not have the makings of an epic artist.

OMG…Now let me tell you about “Unusual You”. That song is so EPIC, it’s not even funny. I love the heartfelt lyrics, eerie vocals & Bloodshy & Avant did the damn thing.
I just KNEW it was going to be a single(was livid when it wasn’t) & I had the video in my head & everything. However, it still was my top fave from the “Circus” era (the other being the bonus track “Trouble”) & one of my fave from hers of all time.

That demo sounds really good, so it’d be interesting to see Brit with some of that material. I’d love if Britney did something like alternative rock. I know she has some rock elements infused in some of her tracks (Lonely, Overprotected), so I’m sure she could pull it off fine, if done right.
@kenney: so what big artists are coming back in 2010? beyonce and gaga? they were never away … christina aguilera? she was too long away, her fans from the past are all grown now and some of them won’t like her new direction, because she changes her music 180 degrees everytime she does something, and it will be hard for her to get new fans in the younger generation, because of gaga … beyonce won’t be any competition if she’s really going to take the “indie”-direction as she stated some time ago and monster was a disaster, only telephone, alejandro and bad romance saved this s**** … Britney certainly will deliver some hot stuff. I’m really really excited for this new album, I have a feeling it’s going to be her best since In The Zone! I think she’s finally getting to do an album that she wants (urban/dance and expiremental). I’ve heard that she will do full promo for this album too because she won’t tour for it. Oh and rumor has it a radio station said her first single will most likely be out around March and is produced by David Guetta……we shall see!

Plus Christina takes breaks because she actually has a family she takes care of unlike britney who’s had 2 failed marriages and lost custody of her kids all in a matter of 5 years. 1. Britney Spears always changes her sound, the only albums that sound the same are her first two from back in the days.
2. Britney Spears doesnt have the strongest voice, but clearly one of the most unique nicest voices that is pleasent to listen to. Unlike some singers with big voices(beyonce christina) they oversing and in beyonce’s case her voice is annoying to me, so you defenetly dont need a big voice to be a great artist!
3. That most of her songs on her albums arent written by her, doesnt mean she doesnt write her own music. She cant help her label is that stupid to pass on her own songs, damn she had to fight to get In The Zone released.
4. She is the Queen, dont bash a queen for being great, human and real, cause there is no other artist out there who is like her, no one can compete with her.

@blackcanarry i disagree, those are the worst of the group of songs for Love? Hooked on You is a cheap production with each line repeating itself? One Love, vocal arrangement is terrible. Louboutins is the best of the bunch, and What Is Love was unfinished and they should remove the Na Na Na parts, and fix the chorus vocals so the background singers don’t come in so loud

Circus was eaten up by mainstream and it was not even Britney’s best album. Yet a lot of people that were hating on her started like her at least thats how it is in the USA.
