Brandy signs with RCA, new album due early 2012

The wheels are certainly in motion for Brandy’s impending comeback, with the former R&B Princess announcing today that she’s just inked a deal with RCA Records. The new deal sees her return to Sony Music, after she was infamously dropped from Sony subsidiary Epic back in 2009 after her critically-acclaimed and completely underrated LP Human tanked on the charts. In a twist, Brandy’s RCA deal will be a joint venture with Breyon Prescott’s Chameleon Records, who has previously worked with Jamie Foxx and Angie Stone.
Brandy’s currently in the studio recording what will be her sixth studio album, with a release date set for early 2012.
“Throughout her career, Brandy has consistently won the vote as everyone’s favorite female vocalist,” Peter Edge, chief executive of RCA Music Group, said in a statement. “I am sure that in her next chapter at RCA and in partnership with Breyon Prescott, we will record her most exciting music to date.”
“This is truly a blessing,” Brandy said in a statement. “Breyon Prescott, Peter Edge and Tom Corson [RCA Music Group’s president and chief operating officer] believe in me and have introduced me to a home that also believes and knows exactly what to do with the type of music I’m doing. Breyon and the team at RCA/Chameleon are creative and forward-thinking and I am thrilled to be working with them.” [Source]
With Jive recently splitting their artists up between Epic and RCA, Brandy is now label mates with A-listers like Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ke$ha, Alicia Keys, Foo Fighters and more.
It’s about time that Brandy got a strong team behind her and readied a comeback. I admit; I was pissed with her after she repeatedly dissed Human solely due to it’s flop status on the charts, but at the end of the day she’s still one of top female artists in the industry as far as vocal ability and quality music goes. Today’s top urban divas like Beyonce still can’t hold a candle to most of Brandy’s b-sides, let alone her studio albums.
Monica has already staged a successful comeback, so are you ready for B-Rocka to follow?
Oh yeah I think she has some doco thing comin’ out or something
