Beyonce’s label: “We’re gonna work ’4′ for the next 18 months”

Beyonce’s label Columbia Records have calmed stan concerns that the dishonest diva has slacked off on her promotional duties, confirming that they’re planning to work Bey’s new album 4 for the next 18-months. Just like all of Beyonce’s previous efforts, 4 will be flogged to death with endless music video releases and a massive global touring schedule in an effort to sustain sales over the long-term.
“The main concentration for the next few months is to get this record working everywhere,” Stringer says. “She’s well versed in being a global artists. The touring plan is extensive. The promo plan is extensive. We also know we’re going to put out a lot of singles and…shoot a lot of videos from the record. There’s enough positive information that we think we can work the record for another 18 months, and hopefully over that period we’ll all be proved right that this is an important record and a commercially successful record.”
4 doesn’t really contain many potential hits, so Bey will probably sell it off the back of hardcore touring. The Glastonbury gig was a smart and very calculated move to re-establish her as pop’s premiere female touring artist, after both Lady GaGa and Pink have become the go-to touring girls over the past few years. Given the success that 4 is having in the UK now, it worked.
As for the present, Bey has a scripted TV special called “The Year of 4″ airing on BET and MTV today, followed by a GMA mini-concert on Friday. She’ll then head back to the UK for more festival dates.
