Bat for Lashes’ Premieres ‘WTF’ Music Video For “Lilies”

I only listened to Bat for Lashes’ “Laura” because it’s supposedly about Laura Palmer, and quickly ended up loving it. I also only bothered listening to The Haunted Man because it was recommended to me on Spotify, and again, I ended up loving it. One of the album’s best cuts, “Lilies,” has just been given the single treatment, with the music video premiering on Vevo earlier today.
I’m not sure how to describe this clip other than saying that it looks like a theater major got together with a bunch of arty film students to create a performance art piece based on Where the Wild Things Are. Or something like that. Visually, Natasha’s served up something distinctively different with every music video from this album. She sung into a camera and chilled with an old queen in “Laura,” had an acid trip on the beach in “All Your Gold,” partied with her troubled and intoxicated boyfriend in “A Wall,” and now she’s doing whatever the hell she’s doing in “Lilies.”
Flash forward one year: Lady GaGa releases exact same video as “Lilies,” only with a bigger budget, less clothing, and accompanied by a song with terrible lyrics.
