AlunaGeorge’s music video budget grows with their popularity
When watching AlunaGeorge’s new video for “Attracting Flies,” you can really see how hard Island Records is pushing the rising duo as one of pop’s next big things. Their first video, “You Know You Like It,” was just Aluna dancing against a white backdrop, while follow-up single, “Your Drums, You Love,” raised the bar a little by having Aluna walk around an art gallery. For “Attracting Flies,” Island has splashed out on a full fairy tale themed visual, complete with fancy costume changes and actual sets.
The video puts a contemporary urban spin on classic tales like Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, and many more. It gives Aluna an excuse to show off some of her sex appeal by dressing up like a stripper for the Goldilocks portion of the clip, and there’s a nice cleavage shot when she rolls around on a bed to act out The Princess and the Pea.
The concept is obviously derived by one of the lines from the hook (“Little grey fairy tales and little white lies”), which is a lot more pleasant than if AlunaGeorge took inspiration from the lyrics about some dude’s breath smelling like shit.
