Allison Iraheta hits back at Jive, live on stage.

It looks like the talented Allison Iraheta is feeling the sting of being dropped by Jive Records, after she took the opportunity to take a swipe at her former label while performing on stage. The ‘diss’ happened during Allison’s final performance as a support act on Adam Lambert’s Glam Nation tour, which was wrapping up it’s American leg in Puyallup. Allison was singing her ballad “Scars”, in which she added Jive’s name into the lyrics.

“Do you know how hard I tried,” she sang as per the original lyrics, “To become what you want me to be… Jive,” she choked out, adding in the name of her former label on the end.

It must have been a bittersweet moment for the 18-year-old, who started off the tour as an artist signed to a major label, and is now ending it without a proper deal. She’s still with 19 Recordings (the label arm of 19 Entertainment, which produces Idol), but really, given the current state of the industry, who knows what will come of that. Still, as I said in my last Allison post, the girl is only 18 and talented, and still has a bright future ahead of her.

Check out the action from the 0:40 mark, below. Thanks to Ethan for sending this in.

dissing the label, how kelly clarkson of her. Love it

  • KingBeaArthur

She sounds kind of messy during that performance (but she gets a pass since it was the last one)

  • Becca

lol i was hoping for something more juicy.

love most of her album though! it’s a shame but i can see her coming back. and did flop allen get dropped too?

  • alliD

    @Becca

Nahh, he’s still with Jive. But The Truth seems to be wearing off at radio.. Uh oh. Next single, please!

ANYWAY. I freakin’ love this girl and yeah I completely agree with @J_Dolla, it is really Kelly Clarkson of her, but at least she’s a really strong person and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. I like that.

She actually seemed more sad than angry. She’s still so young, so she probably feels a little crushed.

This is sad, i’m not really into her but i like her one song called slap me up or something LOL

If she’s still with 19 recordings i wouldn’t hold your breath about success, the same thing happened with Amy Studt here in the uk, her debut went Gold but apparently that wasn’t enough so she was dropped.
Years later 19 finally put out her 2nd album “My Paper Made Men” which is AMAZING but they didn’t do any promo for it at all and it flopped.

No wonder Allison ‘dissed’ Jive–frankly, it was quite a mild reaction considering the circumstances. Allison found out Jive dropped her via fans on twitter 2 weeks before the end of her stint as as opening act on Adam Lambert’s Glamnation tour. For whatever reason(s) Jive may have had for making this decision, their timing and lack direct communication with Allison justifiably supports Jive’s reputation as a label that treats artists badly.

prophet you wont agree with me but the fact is that jive does not know how to handle idols……their most succesful idol jordins is not a disaster cos of mis management /bad timing and wrong promotion!!! RCA is better label for idols ..look at the success of kelly clarkson ..adamlambert …daughtry david cook!!….i hope jordin asks to be released from her jive contract so rca or something pics her up

  • idrag4mj

^^^^^^^ is a disaster** sorry for my spelling mistake

  • blink_blind

haha nice! I saw Crystal Bowersox’s twitter yesterday, seems like she’s having problems with Jive as well. She tweeted, “We love exactly what you do. Now do it differently. We can’t have an Indy type artist on a major label. Why the bleep not?”

I’m glad these people are sticking up for themselves. I get that it’s a business but music is their life and I’m sure they don’t wanna attach their name, face, voice to something they don’t believe in.
