Watch Adam Lambert slay “Better Than I Know Myself” live on Leno

The super duper handsome Adam Lambert appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night to perform his new single “Better Than I Know Myself” for the first time ever.

With Adam having been off of the promo circuit for a while now, I had somewhat forgotten what an astonishing singer he is. Glambert nailed the song as good –if not, better– than the studio version, effortlessly switching keys, hitting high notes, and power belting with the ease of a seasoned pro. If there’s a male pop vocalist out there better than Adam Lambert right now, than I have yet to hear him.

After seeing this superb performance, it’s actually reminded me of how annoyed I am at the whole Lana Del Rey SNL scandal and the way that it has been defended. If you can’t sing, or just simply aren’t quite ready to take on certain performances, then you shouldn’t be out on the stage — please just stay at home and leave it to people like Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson.

Anyway, “Better Than I Know Myself” will officially be shipped to radio this month, and with some more amazing performances like this to promote it, I’d expect it to start climbing the charts in no time.

Check out Glambert’s amazing Leno performance below.

Saw him live when he brought the Glam Nation tour here to New Zealand, and despite playing a smaller venue with atrocious sound quality, he absolutely NAILED the set. When the production values are as slick as his, it’s easy to forget how astonishingly good he is – but when you have him performing live in front of you – there’s just no way to ignore the fact that the boy can SANG.

Wow Adam can sure as hale sing, I love how he dropped into the bridge all pleading and vulnerable, and then built right back up to that glorious belted out ending, fantastic arc.

Altho I thought he seemed a teeny bit nervy when he first started, within seconds he’d worked it out completely. It blows me away that this is the very first time he’s performed it live, I can hardly wait to hear what it sounds like after he’s had a chance to get fully comfortable and play with it awhile.

He’s looking srsly hott too. Skinny bitch. Dayum.

I love Adam Lambert, who is the most amazing singer. Seeing him performing live is totally mind-blowing. The performance of ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ on Leno was brilliant and beautiful!

Great write-up! Adam has to have netted more fans with this performance.
You are so right, when you say that he nailed as good, if not better than the the studio version.  I think it was way better than the studio recording!
And we can look forward to witnessing it, all over again, on Ellen.
This video is the best one I’ve seen.
    Slainte!.

Thanks for the great writeup! I’m still in shock over Adam’s jaw dropping performance! He never disappoints and always gives 120%.As great as his recordings are, seeing him live is an electrifying out of body experience. I’ve been up all night rewatching this performance! I’ve never seen or heard anyone this exciting in my life! He’s stunning to watch and embodies every song he sings with passion and perfection. He’s the real deal! Hope America finally wakes up and gives him the respect and accolades that he so richly deserves. He’s like a rare fine diamond with brilliant facets, beautiful and one of a kind. Love this ultra talented man!

By far, Adam is the best, in every respect. This is a blogger with excellent sensitivities thanks so much.

Have to agree with you regarding Lana DelRay. I usually don’t comment negatively about an artist and just ignore, but I watched that SNL performance and actually was embarrassed for her. She had no stage presence, a weak, pitchy voice and it was painful to watch. I even wondered if she was there as a favor to some mogul. Some people should just not sing. totally on the other end of the spectrum where even other talented artists can’t come close. Adam is

It was a beautiful performance, and Adam fans are spoiled! People are, like, he seemed a bit shaky in the beginning, etc., when fans of others are thankful when a singer lipsynchs on beat. Anyhow, he seemed nervous in the beginning, but I’m not sure if that was because he was really nervous, or part of performance. The lyrics require a insecure, confessional tone, and you can’t be hyper confident while performing such a song. Whether deliberate or not, it worked well.

oh, a raving Adam Lambert post?
*que all the older white Ladies who never come to this site*

“Adam Lambert…gush gush gush…praise…thanks for doing such a nice write up on Adam”…

who the fuck says that shit about a largely successful artist of his caliber, “thanks”? as if he’s some underground act who you’re crazy excited to see getting a slight ounce of buzz for the first time ever…

No shade at the talented man himself, nor is there shade for proph; get that traffic motherfucker…but the obsessed older women who flock to this site just for the Lambert posts bother me =/

Then go someplace else – no one will miss you.

BLaine Kelley:  Why do you think all Adam’s fans are older ladies?  My boyfriend & I are both 21, and we think he’s incredible!  If you’ve ever been to 1 of his concerts, you’d see that his fanbase spans every generation.  That’s really rare for an artists and just says to me that he’ll be around for a very long time.

Anyway, it was great seeing Adam om tv again.  I loved the performance & can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!

Adam’s extraordinary vocal talents were on full display last night. I was fortunate to be in the audience right in front of him. A tad nervous singing a new song live with two new band members yes, but always the consummate performer quickly conquering and channeling those nerves into the music. His vocals were flawless, intense and exciting. His new look was understated and classy. I totally agree, there are no male pop singers that come near to Adam’s talent. Looking forward to his new album Trespassing and more live performances from this extraordinary young artist!

I actually saw his “Glamnation LIVE” CD/DVD on sale today…I think I may check it out…the dude can definitely sing.

  • G-Nasty

I agree with you on the Adam/Kelly front, but everyone has their off days & I feel that everyone is just being really insensitive with the Lana Del Rey scandal. She’s human just like the rest of us, so give her a break & stop trying to rip her to shreds. Unless you’ve been up there performing on the SNL stage, you really can’t speak on anyone who has…

  • Waltonhelm

Well, I’m a white male over 30 who has been working in the industry all my life. Came here out of curiosity–to see how the media, in general, would respond to what I consider a very rare talent. I said thank you because I am generally polite and because writers who promote excellence should be applauded.

Pretty amazing first live perfomance he totally nailed taking his time and all and not going so over the top, he also have improve his looks it looks like he’s kind of put it down the drag queen tacky look of before…well maybe I’m talking to fast I better keep it down till the album photoshoot comes across or other perfomances with his “sassy” style of songs like the last album cause this is not the same Glambert I saw on the EMA’s with Queen (that even blows the house with the perfomance was looking very tranny), the band was kind of slappy exept for the old bass player, playing guitar now, I miss the other guy who use to play with him he know how to direct very well the band, without him they look kind of lost..but I guess Madonna hired him again, anyway was a good first perfomance, can’t wait for the new album.

Well we know where you are coming from!! Go to one of Monte’s reviews if you can find them and talk it up for him there. Or is this Monte himself!! Your comments are a joke!! Can’t get over it! Either Monte or one of his minions reviewing Adam’s performance, How lame! The band was fantastic under the direction of Adam’s new musical Director. Adam’s performance on the tonight show was perfection. He is so gorgeous and his performance blew me away. When is the last time you saw such an exciting performance with vocals that are just incomprehensible Adam owns any stage he is on.  Don’t even go to the performance with Queen!! Adam’s Performance was out of this world. Could not stop viewing and still can’t He was Brilliant!! Can’t stand your cheesiness in even coming here and stating your rubbish!! I also absolutely love BTIKM!! It is so addictive. You just cannot play it once. It is that great. Pop candy you just want more of!!

Another sicko here and how old are you? 10!! You sure write like one. I know you think you are slamming Adam through his fans, You just had to come here to be condescending and obnoxious. Get it through your small brain that Adam’s lucky that he has a fan base of all ages. Teens fall in love with someone new every few yeas, Adam has lifetime fans from very young to old.  He excites and evolves and his fans will grow. He is that talented. I know you will keep finding Adam reviews and commenting the same everywhere as you are a person who will never evolve musically or in maturity so you will always remain small and obnoxious.

OMG he’s so handsomeeeeeeeeeee! BTIM has grown on me, now I love it. Can’t wait for the video.

  • LaLa

Great!!! I kinda prefer the live version better than the recording vers! & Thank God it’s not a dance track debut!
