Adam Lambert performs ‘Trespassing’ mini-concert on Jimmy Kimmel

Adam Lambert teased his upcoming sophomore album Trespassing this week by performing a five-song mini-concert of songs from the record on Jimmy Kimmel.

The performances included his new electro-pop single “Never Close Our Eyes”, which is on iTunes now, but still isn’t due at mainstream radio for another month.

Glambert must really be super pumped about his new album, because he was queening out on stage and giving us more diva than ever before. It was a little Las Vegas cabaret in parts, but overall he killed it with great vocals and a lot of confidence. Lord knows that these days it’s refreshing to see a pop star who can actually sing an entire song live and still slay.

One of the songs Adam performed, “Naked Love”, was a Benny Blanco / Shellback production that sampled Crystal Waters’ hit “100% Pure Love”. It’s really catchy and upbeat, and reminded me a lot of Katy Perry mixed with Madonna. Then there was the Pharrell Williams penned & produced “Trespassing”, which showed off Glambert’s funkier side.

The other two songs, “Broken English”, written & produced by Sam Sparro and Lester Mendez, and “Cuckoo”, from songwriter Bonnie McKee and her collaborator Oligee, haven’t been uploaded in HQ yet, but both songs sound pretty solid from the fan recordings that are up.

I’m gonna w!%#e the s*&t outta this album when it drops next month!

Dayum Adam slays it live! Loving Never Close Our Eyes more and more each time I hear it. And lol that 100% Pure Love sample was genius, Naked Love is such a superfun summer sounding song.

thanks for the write up and all the vids in one convenient post. :D he did a great job.

  • S_sullivan105

Nice article but you didn’t mention that Adam co-wrote TSP, Cuckoo, and Broken English. I watched these performance via live stream then videos afterward and Adam killed it. He’s the best male singer in the world right now.

  • Chica

For the record.. Adam was a cowriter on Trespassing, Broken English and Cuckoo. In fact he wrote on most of the tracks on Trespassing :) I think Adam would love your “Vegas Cabaret in Paris” description ;) He was amazing last night and obviously excited an happy to get his new music out there! Live it!!!

  • Borneobert

Adam co-wrote all those songs except NCOE. Great pop, incredible vocals, fabulous performance. Can’t wait for the album.

  • KED

He is just…… Unbelievable!  No artist out there today is better live.

Adam Lambert is one of the best male peformers out there in pop-rock music, I heard the previews of all the album songs and this is tha bomb, is a great album is as great as “Stronger” (Kelly Clarkson) is cause is not over the top produced shit is actually just a couple a good songs and showing all the talent of this guy.

Hmmm yes as others have said – Adam co-wrote those 3 songs – Broken English is about his relationship with Sauli and Trespassing is about how he feels trying to operate in society. It would be nice to give him credit. He wrote most songs on the album in fact. These performances are amazing tho a little awkward in a couple of places – only in the ones he performed for the first time! But he’s only just starting off with his new songs, once he warms up to performing them he will be more natural and more like his wild & wonderful GNT self. Vocally they were brilliant tho.

Always love your reviews and I always love Adam! Thanks

is it just me or is there some crazy who always posts the same comment under different names on Adam articles? like why would 3 different anons randomly comment that he co-wrote the tacks? strange…

Nice article except not giving Adam writing credits. That seems to be a source for complaints among his non-fans even though Rhianna doesn’t write ANY of her songs and she goes unscathed. Another area where Adam has it rougher than other artists. Oh well, the boy can sing!!!!

WoooHooo!  Doesn’t get much better than Adam Lambert!

  • Brandon

Honestly, if there’s any problem I have with Adam, it’s that he’s a little too theatrical. He still performs like he’s doing theater.

  • Sharon

Are you saying Adam’s album is as great or greater than Clarkson’s? Trepassing is much better than Kelly’s latest album I like Kelly very much but Adam’s is much different and his vocals make all the songs GREAT!

  • Sharon

Well if it isn’t the same Brandon posting negative comments about  Adam on another blog. Gee when do you have time to eat and sleep. I guess it’s tough when you sole purpose in life is to follow Adam everywhere. How the obsession going Brandon?

  • Sharon

I made first comment about this reviewer not mentioning that Adam cowrote on all but NCOE then others read it and commented. You r wrong it’s different people commenting as I know all of them.

  • Sharon

One more bit of info for you. The most successful male performers in the world were Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson and yes they were extremely theatrical and the world loved both dearly. That is why millions try to imitate their stage antics. Remember that the next time you comment about Adam being too theatrical.

  • http://twitter.com/Mickilyn Lynn McCormick

It’s actually pretty common knowledge among his fans. Any who follow him on twitter would probably know he cowrote 12 of the 15 tracks on the deluxe edn, because Adam is very proud of the fact that he cowrote on most and has mentioned it on twitter several times, as well as in some interviews when he’s been asked.  So since he has almost 1.4 million twitter followers….  It’s a pretty safe bet it’s not one crazey person posting under dif names. I love his voice. I’m hearing impaired & most singers are too mumbly for me to hear the lyrics, but I can hear him.

  • Bebe

    Great reply.

Let us not forget Freddie Mercury,David Bowie,Prince,Madonna,Gaga…..yes….theatrical performance were/are part of their allure. Unless Brandon is only 10…..he forgets that a lot of the icons were/are theatrical. The rest just try!!

  • Pragmatic Penny

why didn’t you give Adam the co-writer credit he deserves on all of the songs excepting Never Close Our Eyes?

  • http://twitter.com/RedRoseQueen1 RedRoseQueen1

No…..It’s just you.LOL! Writing credits ultimately are the MOST lucrative part  of the music biz.Royalties can go on long after a performer stops performing. So, from a financial standpoint, it is to an artist’s benefit to write or co-write.But from a vocal perspective, it matters not.Adam can slay ANY song written by ANYONE. ;D

  • http://twitter.com/RedRoseQueen1 RedRoseQueen1

Honestly Brandon….without “theatricality” we’d have no Presley, Queen, Jackson, KISS, Bowie, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, James Brown, Prince, etc….Get the picture? Maybe you need to stick with James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, etc.A safe, straight white guy with a guitar and a bar stool.smh…

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

It’s a common complaint among fans that Adam doesn’t get writing credits. That’s why.

  • http://twitter.com/LindsayKempFan Not fit to print

I gonna assume that w!%#e the s*&t out of the cd is a compliment! LOL!

  • Carrmuse2

Adam Lambert new album will just shine! The material is new and fresh and his live shows are an experience no one should miss! It is Lambert’s theatricality that makes it impossible to take your eyes off him when he is one the stage!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/IWOE6TVZGQCZP4VGFPIKUAX4QU MalsDoxy

no one can match him in either vocal ability (astonishing) or stage presence. can’t wait for the new album

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1127181558 Andrés Felipe Rodríguez

I’m saying that the album sounds pretty solid as Stronger and like it is showing Adams vocals pretty well without over working them with auto-tune or something, is as organic vocally talking as Stronger, and also that have good songs without going all over the top or pretentious.

  • Sharon

Don’t you think also that it’s difficult to compare male and females singers but yes both are solid but the unique and hip award goes to Trespassing. Kelly’s is good but very generic pop songs. Her voice makes her songs sound much better than if someone else sang them.
