New Black Eyed Peas album due this June

Posted in News on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

Hot on the heels of their album The E.N.D. The Black Eyed Peas have announced that they have a new album dropping around “June-July”.

I guess this means we’ll be waiting a while for Fergie to follow-up The Duchess?

BEP member apl.de.ap failed to give any specific information on the project, other than that the group have been recording it on the road and it will be a “continuation”.

My money is on the Peas doing either a re-release or a Lady GaGa The Fame Monster style EP since they still have two more music videos filmed and due for release, “Imma Be” and “Rock That Body”.

They’re also on tour until the beginning of June, which is interesting since they said the new album would drop around June-July.

The bands most recent album The E.N.D. has currently sold around five million copies worldwide, scored three Grammy awards, spawned two #1 singles, and broken chart records thanks to its smash hits “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling”.

Is it too soon for more Peas?

Cheryl Cole puts on her dancing shoes for “Parachute” video

Posted in Music Videos on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

The very attractive Cheryl Cole is still bangin’ out the singles from her multi-platinum solo debut 3 Words, last night releasing the music video for her third single “Parachute”.

As with all of CC’s video’s the singer has kept things classy and gone for a stylish high-fashion look, making the 26-year-old look more like a supermodel shooting a designer ad campaign rather than a pop star dancing around in a music video.

Cheryl’s next single will mostly like be a song from the upcoming re-release of her 3 Words album which she’s currently recording with Ryan Tedder, who recently announced that he’s trying to get the Girls Aloud star to record a song he originally produced for Alicia Keys The Element of Freedom.

Not everybody goes GaGa over guns

Posted in News on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

Gun safety group the Brady Campaign have spoken out about the depictions of firearms in popular culture today, targeting Beyonce & Lady GaGa for their pornographic gun totin’ music video for “Video Phone”.

“The music was fine, but I wonder why they went out of their way to glorify guns in their production,” the campaign’s president, Paul Helmke, wrote on its website. “Beyond the sexual stereotype of guns in general, it’s hard to understand why they are in the video at all.”

But why the sudden interest in the not-so-recently-released music video and its stars?

The twosome, as well as soon-to-be-jailed-on-gun-charges rapper, Lil Wayne, are set to take the stage at Sunday’s Grammy Awards, and the activists are looking for the broadcast to be held accountable for the message it is allegedly sending.

“I can hear people say, ‘Hey, it’s just show business,’ and that Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each put on a good show. I understand that,” explained Helmke.

“Yet it is difficult to deny the influence that these entertainers have on our popular culture and the young people who absorb it,” he continued. “Guns aren’t toys, even when they’re made with pretty colors or sung about in rap songs, and it is dangerous to treat them that way.

“It is a deadly problem that more of us—including celebrities—should take seriously.” {Source: E News}

Hmmph. Sounds exactly like everything I’ve been saying for months now.

MUSIC VIDEO: Livvi Franc – Automatik

Posted in Music Videos on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

After her first single “Now I’m That Bitch” bombed on the charts (even Shontelle out-charted her) Barbados babe Livvi Franc has returned with her second single “Automatik”.

The music video is your standard ‘party in the club’ clip with a minor plot throw in showing Livvi chase down a love interest, but it’s an appropriate vehicle for the song which I absolutely love, and that’s really saying something since it’s produced by one of my least favorite people RedOne.

I don’t really see it happening but I’d like for this song to do something for Livvi because I’ve been really impressed by most the leaks from her upcoming album so far, not to mention that she can sing, write and she’s beautiful, but I think right now that the music industry is only interested in one lady from Barbados and that’s certainly not Livvi Franc or Shontelle.

New Kelly Clarkson single due this September

Posted in News on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

In what is some truly glorious news for Kelly Clarkson fans, Kelly has confirmed that she’s aiming to release her new single in September.

The single will serve as the lead from Clarksons fifth album which is due for release by the end of the year.

Kelly is currently on tour at the moment promoting her fourth album All I Ever Wanted, which to date has only sold around 1.4 million copied worldwide off the back of three singles.

A fourth single has yet to be confirmed for release, but “Long Shot” could end up seeing the light of day after it showed up on the Hit Predictor website, and was then announced as a new single by Canadian radio station CHUM-FM who then listed it on their website.

It took me all of 2009 to warm up to All I Ever Wanted (which I previously despised with a passion), but now I love it and I think it’d be a crime to not release a fourth single, especially since the album could use the sales boost. “Long Shot” is a good song, but I’m really rooting for “Don’t Let Me Stop You” instead.

[Release Don't Let Me Stop You! It's not too late!]

SNAPPED! Lady GaGa & Beyonce go for a drive on the “Telephone” video set

Posted in Candids on January 30th, 2010 by The Prophet

Some more set pics have emerged from the music video of Lady GaGa & Beyonce’s latest collaboration “Telephone”. The video is being shot by GaGa’s “Paparazzi” director Jonas Åkerlund, and the theme will reportedly center around a desert prison break out.

Judging by these pics the video looks a lot like pop art-meets-B-movie, which is pretty exciting. I’m just glad that GaGa is in charge of things and not Bey because “Video Phone” was absolute garbage.

Another thing that separates “Telephone” from “Video Phone” is it’s chart position, with Telephone already reaching #20 on the Hot 100. With the force of one of GaGa’s popular music video’s behind it I can easily see the song being the next #1 single for the pair.

SNAPPED! Ke$ha goes sky high for “Blah Blah Blah” video

Posted in Candids on January 30th, 2010 by The Prophet

It looks like Ke$ha has some exciting (and trashy) things in store for us when she drops her new music video “Blah Blah Blah”, with these new set pics showing the 22-year-old doing everything from flying through the air on a harness to giving the camera the finger. {pic source}

“Blah Blah Blah” will be released to radio on February 2, but due to early airplay and strong downloads the song has already reached #7 on the Hot 100 (this week it’s #21).

It looks like this video will have a lot more money behind it than “TiK ToK” and I can’t wait to see it.

MUSIC VIDEO: Florence & The Machine – Hurricane Drunk

Posted in Music Videos on January 30th, 2010 by The Prophet

Florence Welch of Florence & The Machine is now up to the whopping sixth single from her multi-platinum debut album Lungs, premiered the video for the latest release “Hurricane Drunk” earlier today.

Despite being more of an indie act Florence has managed to score quite a few hits from Lungs, with her last single “You’ve Got The Love” even managing to crack the top five in the UK, so don’t be surprised if you see “Hurricane Drunk” following suit.

In other news the band has added some North American dates to their current tour, which will include solo dates as well as a performance at the Coachella festival.
